I read somewhere that in order to make the transition from chaos to Democracy you should first have an authoritative government. It seems silly trying to force a democracy on people. However an authoritative government could be used to better control the region.

  1. Err, excuse me but the whole point of the occupation (as opposed to the war) is suppose to create a democratic government and now you say the way to do that is set up a fascist dictatorship.  How can you look at yourself in the mirror or even have minimal self-respect!  Try to remember who many American troops and Iraqi civilians have died since 'mission accomplished'!

  2. right.  and get a dictator to run the place.  we've had such good luck choosing dictators.  saddam was &%*$ and *4&@!

  3. It is the only way to maintain Iraq as a single nation, but I thought we were supposed to bring freedom to the Iraqis.  How is it freedom if we force them to remain as one nation when they don't want to be?
