Question:

Should we spend money on opening ceremonies for the Olympic games?

Surely cash would be better spent on sports facilities both in schools and the general community. I read school grants are being cut.

The Olympics are about sport, not showing off, aren't they?

  1. I agree with you but unfortunately an openining ceremony goes with the territory. Ours will be expensive and cr*p as those running it haven't got a clue. You can see that by how much the overall costs of the building work has escalated. If the opening ceremony is as good as the logo, which nobody liked but they refused to change, the opening and closing ceremonies will be pants.

    Note for Dunrobin46

Do you think the taxpayer will be consulted about how much to spend on the opening ceremony? I don't think so.

  2. personally i dont really see the point in having huge olympic opening ceremonies. i think the smaller ones would be more effective as its cheaper and the money is better spent on other things (better sports equipment and the look of the buildings etc)

  3. The tax payer won't spend too much, you watch how much sponsorship the opening ceremony attracts.

  4. 2112 Morris men and a couple of pearly kings and queens can not cost to much can they?

  5. No Idea nor interest however methinks that those guys would run a lot quicker if they took some drugs,

  6. Why can't the lottery do it? I would rather it went on that than some ethnic single mothers art class.
