Should we stay in Paris or at Euro Disney?

Question

We are a family of 4 and will be in Paris for 5 days, we will do Disney for 2 days and the rest of the time in Paris, where should we stay? Also traveling from there to Venice where i need to book accommodation also? Any ideas something reasonable but not too pricey

A group of us stayed there in 2005 (2 bedroom townhouses) and found the rate to be reasonable and the units comfortable and especially so for those with kids. There is a shuttle bus to Euro Disney which runs frequently and just takes a few minutes.  Or you can take a cab which some of our disabled group did.  The rate was very reasonable as it is not far.

After your Euro Disney adventure, I would recommend that you book a hotel or an apartment (some rent by day or week) in Paris proper and avoid having to take the train to Paris and back.  We thought that it was a real pain to take the train back and forth!  This next trip we will be staying in Paris proper which will make it a lot easier when we want to go "home" and clean up before going out in the evening.

hi, a few weeks ago I stayed for 3 days in Paris. We stayed 2 nights in the Novotel Marne la Vallée & one night in the SAS Golf, both close to Disney. We were with our own car and drove each time to Paris, it's quite easy and a lot cheaper than Paris center.  

It took us about 25minutes each time, so that's not much more than you have to count to go from one part of Paris to the other (unless if you stay of course in the real city center, but that you will pay for).

I would not recommend the Novotel, it's very clean but the rooms facing the swimming pool are very noisy.  The SAS Golf is perfect, but very expensive (we could only afford one night, but we loved it).

If you decide to stay in Paris then you need to count 40minutes to get to Disney by train, probably 1,5 days will do for both the parcs.

I think it would be better to research some hotels near to the resort rather than stay at the resort itself - the hotels are extremely expensive, and will no doubt be all booked up.

Nothing to add about the Disney part. Can only confirm that staying in Paris is by far the best option. A day trip to Disney will be enough in my opinion but if you really want to spend 2 days and one night there, then do Disney the first two days as there is a direct 10-minute TGV train from CDG airport to Disneyland. Then spend the last 5 days in a hotel in Paris. There would be nothing more depressing than have to take the RER (commuter train) back to boring Marne-la-Vallée (where Disneyland is located) each night after enjoying a day in Paris. You must absolutely spend your nights in Paris and enjoy fresh croissants from the local bakery or café in the morning.

Now the part to Venice. I would suggest taking the night train from Paris Bercy station which leaves around 7:00 pm (6:55 on weekdays, 7:40 on Saturdays) and arrives in Venice the next morning around 9:30. This way you don't waste precious day time traveling and you save the cost of a hotel room that night. The night trains to Italy are called Artesia.

Stay in Paris, you can probably find cheaper accomodation than in Disney.  Also you can always take public transportation to get to Euro Disney.

I would stay at Euro Disney

You do not want to drive into Paris if that it was you are planning to do.

Just go to Euro Disney and take a train into Paris. Don't make the mistake of driving in :)

Public transport from Paris to EuroDisney is very easy (direct train from city centre) and not that long.

Especially if you stay a few more days in Paris, you'll be better staying at the same place.

And of course the quality/price ratio will be far better!

Staying outside but close to EuroDisney is not a good option, as you would have more complicated transport in boring and poorly indicated suburbs, and nothing to do around your hotel.

I've been to Euro-Disney, about 4 years ago.

I don't want to burst your bubble, but Euro-Disney is about 20% the size of the Orlando Disney; which also doesn't have all the surrounding Disney/Disney-Like other parks (Epcot, MGM, etc.)

At the time I was 35, so there's really not anything like Epcot Center's GM Test Drive that's fast/interesting enough to keep an older traveler very interested for more than a half day.  I don't have kids, so I can't guesstimate how long the kids will stay interested, but if they're young I suppose you'll be good for the day.  The park is *very* clean and has nice interesting French touches of the same attractions in Orlando.  So it's definitely a nice place to visit, but not with the same grandiose nature of the Florida park.

I'm not sure what the cost difference is for Disney area hotels vs. Paris area hotels, but I don't imagine they're much cheaper.  If you can find an acceptable place to stay within about 8 metro stops (about 15 min)from downtown, that would be ideal.  You'll have a much better experience in and around Paris than you will in and around Disney.  The Disney train (not the metros) takes about 40 min from downtown.  So here's my advice:  Paris is a BIG city.  You can easily split your day up into 2-3 trips to destination areas in the city and intersperse them with a refresher nap/shower/outfit change/purchase drop-off by jumping a quick metro back and forth to your hotel if you stay nearby, whereas you will not be able to do that easily if you have to metro over to the Disney train station and then take the long commute back. *AND* you don't want to pack for an entire day in the city!  You'll either run yourself ragged or you'll cut your day early in the city because your too tired or whatever!  And why visit the best city in the world and say that you didn't see as much as you wanted because you stayed at a Disney hotel!  Sooo American!  (A little Parisian humor...)
