Should we still consider naming our son Nolan?

We have it down to Liam and Nolan for our 2nd son. My husbands name is Noah though so I don't know if it would be a bad thing to name a son a name that starts out sounding like his Dad's name? Also our first son's name is Gavin so when yelling for them to come to dinner the names will run together since Gavin ends with an

Am I just over thinking all of this and being silly?

  1. Yeah, you could be looking into this a bit too much...  I guess it depends how the boy will feel later on about having a name so close to his dad.  But my little brother is named Daniel, and my dad Dan, and he's never minded.

Btw, I would name him Liam anyway...  Liam just seems to go with Gavin so much more!  I really like both of those names. (Gavin and Liam)  That's just my opinion though.

  2. I like Liam better.

  3. You are WAY over thinking it but hey you have that privilege.

    I love the name Liam.

You are pregnant so be as silly as you like..

  4. I like Nolan better than Liam.  I don't think there's a problem...however, one of my dogs' names rhymes with my name.  Sometimes when my husband is calling the dog, I think he's calling me. ;) If you think that will be a problem with your husband and your son, then don't do Nolan.  But I must say, there's less of a problem with your son coming in because you were calling your husband than my going running when my husband is looking for the dog!

  5. Go for Liam!

  6. Liam and Nolan are both really cute names! So are Noah and Gavin if I may add! Gavin and Nolan sound great together and they aren't really that similar. But Gavin and Liam also sounds great together. Maybe you could use both names(one for the first and one for middle) Liam Nolan and Nolan Liam both sound great! You could also consider Nolan William and William Nolan with the nickname Liam! Wow you have a tough decision, they all sound great with your son's name and with your husband's name too. You'll have to chose the one that also sound nice with your name! Hope this helps! =)

    Nolan Liam

    Liam Nolan

    Nolan William

    William "Liam" Nolan

  7. I don't think they're too close. They're both good names. I love the name Gavin!!

If you want other suggestions, ones that flow better with Gavin, I suggest:

Aidan, Owen, Riley, or your choice of Liam. They all go really well.

    Good luck with your son!

  8. I like Liam best.

  9. Both names are good but I like Liam better. But my husbands name is Kevin and my son is Keyvon. And my daughter is Kiara. So names going together is something I'm all for. Now that I think you should name him Nolan.

  10. Yes lol I think you're being silly :o)! Nolan is a great name. And its not as much like his dad's name as you think. Just the first to letters! If they had the same ending sound it might be different, but hey end completely differnt. Liam is too common. I think you should stick with Nolan :o)

  11. First of all, there is no such thing as over thinking the name of your child. This is the name he will be with for the rest of his life. I want you to picture yourself holding this child in your arms for the first time. Do you see yourself calling him Nolan or Liam? If you can't see it, wait until he's born. I think you should think deep down and pull out the name you think is best. I personally LOVE Liam. I also love the name Gavin. Good luck.

  12. Defiantly Liam. Nolan sounds like mole-an.

  13. I would opt for Liam over Nolan

  14. I prefer the name Liam with Gavin.  Both Nolan and Liam are nice, it really just depends on what you like.  I don't think they will run into each other and I think Gavin and Nolan sound cute together.

  15. Nolan is an adorable name.  I think it could be easier for you if they end with the same sound.  Also, it's cute to have a name that sounds like the daddy's.  I bet he will like whatever you choose. :)

  16. Nolan. I dont like Liam. If every other kid isn't Aiden or Jayden it's Liam!

  17. I love love love Nolan.  I think it's kind of nice that it sounds like Dad's name.  Almost like a tribute, but not really - unless you want it to be.  Gavin and Nolan sound really good together too.  Gavin and Liam are ok, but Gavin and Nolan sound awesome!

  18. No your not being silly, naming your kids is very important. I had alot easier time naming my first than I did naming my second.  You want something that flows with Gavin but not so close that it will be confusing. I think that Noah and Nolan start the same but dont end with the same sound wo i think  it is ok.  Plus i think Nolan and Gavin compliment eachother.  I think for your situation I like Nolan better than Liam

  19. No it would be alright to name your son Nolan. Thats a nice name. Your husbands name doesnt matter.. Although Liam is nice too. Dont worry about the names running together. That doesnt matter. All of my siblings names end with the same sound 'en'

  20. Yeah, it's silly, but that doesn't matter. Be nitpicky, your son has to live with his name for the rest of his life. I like Liam better, though.
