Should we still have a Royal Family in the UK?

1. What real value do the Royals bring these days?

2. Should we keep them or get rid of them?

3. If you want to keep them then should we still be funding them?

You need to see the bigger picture here, im not a Royalist at all, but The Royal family bring in a lot of tourism, the Americans and Australians if they visit the u.k usually always go to london and visit Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, etc..  Yes we need to cut the funding as they do spend far to much, but getting rid of them would hurt our economy far more than having them.

The UK makes a MASSIVE amount of money from those people who travel the world to come here to see our 'Geeeeooooorrrgeous castles' & our 'Wonderful Queen'

'Changing of the guard' & 'Buckingham Palace'

It might not make sense to us.... but it should.

We may fund them.. but without them I truly believe we wouldnt have enough to offer tourists... & that means we pay more tax etc.. to fund everything else.

We dont have disneyland, guaranteed hot weather, guarenteed snow for ski-ing etc.  The Royals, however disfunctional they are as a family...are historical & are what foreigners associate with UK.

We are turning into a country of Call Centres!.. that aint enough to bring the tourists in!!

The royal family are one of Great Britain's greatest assets. They bring thousands and thousands of tourists to the country who bring thousands and thousands of £'s with them. They also are wonderful ambassadors for what is left of our manufacturing industries. Not only this but the royal family are part of our heritage and part of us, to get rid of them would be like getting shut of our own mothers and fathers.

In answer to your third point, taking into account what I have just told you, the royal family well and truly pay for themselves with the revenue they generate by the above means.

If you don't want to live under a monarchy, I suggest you go and live in another country. The UK and England don't want treacherous numpties like you asking questions like this.

We would loose a great source of money, because tourists (all around the world) adddore them and come to Britain to watch the Royal Cerimonies.

Would you like us to be just like American citizens? I wouldn't.

personally, give Buckingham Palace to the homeless of London. The crown jewels should be auctioned off, and profit made should be given to investment in the NHS.

Most of the men in the royal family are military trained, so they can earn a proper wage instead of living off us hard working tax payers. The women of working age, should get themselves a job.

well actually they bring in a huuuge amount of tourism and the publicity must generate quite a bit of cash too. we should keep them and to be honest i'm not sure we actually spend that much to fund them.

Yes.

They bring a lot of tourism and they represent British tradition and they'e a great source of entertainment for a lot of people.

Relatively speaking, they don't cost much (not including the lesser toffs) and they're worth the money for what they represent.

Personally, I don't give two hoots for them but I think we should keep them. I don't really get the big anti-royal thing. They're very uncool but I think the UK wastes a h**l of a lot more money on other more ridiculous things.

c) a head of state uncorrupted by politics, unlike most republics. Sorry, I mean ALL republics - as far as I can see a monarchy is a real source of political stability. Compare Holland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway (monarchies) with the constant political turmoil in republics - USA, Italy, Phillipines, Ukraine, etc).

i really think you should get rid of them!!! it's ok that they have fortune they heir, but to give them money for doing NOTHING??? doesn't it bother you??? the fact that some people get tons of money just because they are born in the royal family??? it sucks
