Unless the weather is bad or the neighborhood is unsafe no. I can't wait until it warms up and the snow melts so my kids can get outside!!! My 4 year old tried to ride his bike yesterday but since there is still snow/ice on the roads and sidewalks it is very hard to do.

no.  I live on a block with 8 houses. we are literally the only ones homes during the 9-5 day.  I never let them out alone.  I always  supervise.  Its only when I cant supervise that I stop them from playing outside.

Why? Every kid needs outside time. The more, the better. There is no question about it and research proves it. (At least mine does.) If you need to, supervise your children. Make sure that they are playing in a safe, clean environment.

it's the best thing for them.  iF you live somewhere that you are afraid to let them out- take them to a park, or go for a walk around the neighborhood.  Be aware of your surroundings and make sure they know to tell you where they are at all time.  Fence in the back yard and let their imagination run wild.  Did you know i have pirate piggies out to take over the barbeque? And the mighty princess (my three year old) is the only one that can stop them with her trike?    think back to when you were a kid?  some of your best memories were probably made outside.

Why would we stop our children from playing outside..am I missing something here?...I am going to have to say no we shouldn't stop our children from playing outside, plus if I told my children they weren't allowed to play outside, they'd kill me, seriously....

OMG! i'm so glad you asked this question. while, everyone on the board agrees that we should let our children OUT to play--few are doing it!

my son is homeschooled, and let me tell you--it is a struggle to find other kids for him to play with! most kids are inside glued to the TV, or the parents are uncomfortable with letting the kids freely play outside with the neighbor kids.

there are FEW neighborhoods where it is truly dangerous for your kid to play outside. regardless of what the TV tells you--kids are just as safe outside TODAY as they were 100 years ago.

let them out! FREE THE CHILDREN! and in the process, give the parents a break!
