  1. trinidad and tobago are 1 country

trini is short for trinidad and tobago

and it sounds better than Trinbagonian

  2. Or "Trini-bagonian" (with the "i")

    LOOOL @ jachian......

"Tobadadian"  LOL.... OH LAWD--- could you imagine???? That was a good one.

  3. ?

  4. all the stuff that you are asking everyone is not good for u or anyone else that's using drug of any source

  5. but wha de mudddd ..... we ole talk have to get politically correct now ?

next ting dey taxing lime by de river and wining have ah surcharge

Trinbagonian is de best way to call we but we does shorten everyting so hence Trini --- no dis to we Bago people at all

  6. I too find myself wondering sometimes when writing if I should use "Trini" or "Trinbagonian" to speak of the islands; usually I end up using the word Trini :P

  7. bad idea.. what about if you are from Grenada? there are 3 islands... remember? Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique. so would you call us Greriaqueians?

  8. We are two islands but one nation. Trinbagonian works for me.

  9. i prefer trini..if ur from tobago then say ur a tobagonian.. thats like me being from ontario and saying im Qubecois (which is another province next door to ontario).. how can you be from two islands at the same time? now if ur mom is from tobago and ur dad is from trinidad then you can say ur trinbagonian.

  10. Just longer to say! But when I'm around people that understand the dynamics of our country, I say Trini. But with people that don't (like here in the US South) I make sure I include Tobago and let them know about our twin islands. Haf tuh represent fuh meh people!

  11. Yes, we are two small Islands that make up our country.

But, personally I prefer to call myself a Trini, I have love for my Tobago brothers and sisters, but it doesn't make me a Trinbagonian.

    I am a proud Trini.

    Trini for Trinidad or Trinidadian

    Tobagonian for Tobago.

    To each it's own.

  12. Any one is fine really, but to be politically correct - trinibagonian is fair

  13. I honestly never thought that using Trini alienated our sister isle. and for that i must sincerely apologise.

i usually simply use Trini to describe our citizens because its easier to write than Trinbagonian. i know Tobagonians call themselves Gonian, so when im talking about a Trinidadian or our citizens collectively i use Trini, but when describing a Tobagonian specifically i use Gonian.

but either way, Trinbagonian can work. but ah, TS it ent have a shorter way to call us, which incorporates the both islands without all dat typing?

  14. Oh...

Ah, I was just playing with you !!

Don't get too upset. Trinbagonian is fine to use.

I don't know for sure what Tobagonians think about the term "Trini" thought.

Perhaps you should find out how many Tobagonians there are on here.

I just wanted to provoke a reaction.

You know the political situation of Trinidad and Tobago.

Most Tobagonians feel that they have a culture that is different to that of Trinidadians.

And they are right. Here in Trinidad even though we predominantly take after british culture we have influences that are french, african, indian, spanish and a lot of others, and therefore our world view is not exactly the same as that of Tobagonians who's culture and traditions mostly take influence from the british and dutch. They also have a stronger african component than Trinidad does.

And, as you know there have been political issues. You may be aware of clamouring for more Tobagonian autonomy through the THA. Some have felt that the allocation of resources from the central government somewhat discriminates against Tobago.

Don't think that this is a mainstream view of Tobagonians though.

But these issues have been and are ocasionally raised.

I was watching TV some time back and I saw a Tobagonian fellow who expressed his pride in being a Tobagonian.

He declared to the world that he was a "Tobadadian" rather than a "Trinbagonian".

Do you see the nice word play ?

Yes, I it is a nice innovation. He is asserting that he is Tobagonian first.

And that's why I brought it up. What do you think ?

But for short you could just call them "gonians", just like we call Trinidadians "Trinis".

  15. i think its better to use trinbagonian, because we need to embrace our sister isle. people  think trinidad stands on its own, when is trinidad and tobago. so yes trinbagonian

  16. yeah we should eh. um den i would have to change my name to the trinbago_afghan girl. LOL
