Is the monorail in Vegas worth buying a day pass for? Is there such a thing as a 3-day or 5-day pass as there are for the subway in NYC?

  1. we usually buy the day pass for like $9 per person, that way you can use it as often as you like for 24 hrs.  but we usually walk alot too and catch the mono back or vise versa.  its rather pricy, unless your feet and legs are shot, then it seems worth it to get back to the hotel.  if its just the 2 of you the $20 pass is best, then you can each take 3 trips and its good for like a yr I think. Remember, the monorail lets you out on the back side of all the hotels, so ya still have to walk it seems a mile to get through the casinos, to the strip.  Thats why we still walk alot.

  2. There are lots of ways to get around the Vegas strip besides the Monorail. A monorail day pass is a great idea but a $5 deuce day pass might be a better bargain. http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/get-aroun...

Remember there are some free van shuttles between hotels. And free trams between Mirage and TI and Excalibur - Luxor - Mandalay Bay

  3. I was just in Vegas in June and we took the monorail every day were were there.  As posted below, it does take you to the back of the hotels/casino, but I really didn't mind that part.  I liked the walking through the casinos.  The wait was never long for the monorail and it wasn't very crowded either.  It would highly suggest it's use.  The price is well worth it.  The locations for the stations are awesome.

  4. Yes, it's worth it.  Because of the sheer size of the hotels, our blocks seem much shorter than they actually are.  The walk across the street from the Flamingo to Caesar's Palace will take you at least 10 minutes.  Just walking from the Mirage to the Treasure Island takes that long too.  It's an optical illusion that hotels are close together because they are so very huge.

We get many tourists in our ERs every summer because they thought they could walk the Strip and had a heat stroke instead.  AND it can be dangerous to walk because of the risk of getting hit by a car driver by a starry eyed tourist who is looking up instead of at the road. So be careful walking on the Strip and obey all the Don't Walk signs.

Anyway, the monorail is an experience in itself. It goes 60 miles an hour and is fun to ride so do get those tickets and if you're going downtown or anyplace else, either utilize the Deuce or grab a cab.

    Have fun and be safe

  5. Take the monorail or any other form of public transporation if you can.  I got plenty of blisters on my feet in Vegas and I didn't even walk the entire strip.  You'll do enough walking in the huge casinos.

  6. Something to remember is that the monorail runs behind all the major casinos except for the Hilton. When you get off you will have a pretty good walk just to get to the back of the casino and then if you want to get to the strip .. again that will be a long walk. I tried it once and I was disappointed in it. This monorail will not make any sense until it is connected with the airport. That is where it will do the most good.

Also it only services the hotel/casinos on the east side of the strip, Here is a map of the monorail current and future expansions.
