Question:

Should we teach children both sides of the flat earth/round earth controversy?

That way, they can make up their own minds!

And while we're at it, we can teach them both sides of other scientific theories as well. We can teach them the theory of gravity, and also the "theory" that we stick to the earth because the devil is pulling us toward h**l. We can teach them the theory of electromagnetism, and also the "theory" that lights turn on because angels love us.

Why not just let the children decide?

  1. Why do leftists have to oversimplify every issue?

The Earth (as a proper name, it's capitalized.  You said that dirt is round, which isn't always the case) is round. That can't be disproved.

Gravity is a law, which can't be disproved.  Competent scientists understand this.  The problem is that incompetent scientists represent the theory of evolution as a law, which it is not.

    Electromagnetism is also a law.

Competent scientists also understand the value of debate.  Beware the sound of one hand clapping.

  2. Actually, that's the way they used to do it. When you hit evolution they talked about creation teachings from various religions and then talked about evolution.

Kids can handle it.  No biggie.

What you absolutely do not want to do is give them an opinion.  They should make their own.

  3. Religion has lots of science in it if u look at it.  Ironically the main reason 4 the black plague was that people did not wash their hands. The bible always mention the use of running water before a meal it was consider a ritual.

  4. flat earth round earth can be PROVED!!!!   Gravity can be PROVED....   Life's beginnings cannot.

  5. I doubt there's any real controversy concerning the flat earth/round earth debate - pretty much common knowledge. And although the specifics of gravity remain somewhat vague (much like magnetism), we have a very good understanding of the characteristics and behavior of both - and, surly, the devil isn't pulling all of the planets in our solar system toward h**l.

That being said - I get the drift of your question.

Science, in the case of evolution, does not even pretend to explain the creation of the elements which are thought to have formed the origin of life. Therefore, I see no reason to delve into it except perhaps in a philosophy or religion class.

  6. You're right.

    Who needs science!

Let's just follow conservatives back to the 13th century and we'll all be much happier.
