Should we tell the I.O.C. that we made a mistake & just can't hack it when it comes to holding the Olympics?

I'm still one hundred per cent in favour of the Games being held in London but just get very frustrated by all the moaners putting the project down at every opportunity.

  1. No we should not, cast your mind back to what happened the week that we found out we were holding the Olympics, now ask that question again.

  2. Oh yes and please could we have a refund on the money already wasted - oops sorry - spent!!!

  3. Lord Coe etal. should be up for decieving the world about the plans and the costs etc.

I want the olympic games.  I am looking froward to the games but the plans submitted were a complete work of fantasy.

  4. With 3 years still to go the costs could still treble.

The first country to pull out of hosting the Olympics and ask for a permanent home for the Games will do the rest of the world a favour.

We can't be the only taxpayers who think the cost is not worth it.

  5. too late! the work has already started and the banks are reluctant to lend money on it. paris should have got it...... then part of london wouldn't have had to be demolished and the residents/businesses shunted off elsewhere - out of sight out of mind syndrome.

  6. Oh Alana. Stop being so un-British. Your lack of cynicism is so continental. Phhh. Please, get a grip!

  7. The original costings were deliberately underestimated for political reasons, something like two billion pounds. They wanted to make sure that there were no objections on the grounds of cost. The costs have now gone up to nine billion and are still rising.

I have always enjoyed the Olympics and look forward to them being held in this country. The only whinge I have, and I have had it for a long time, is that there are far too many events in the Olympics that have no right to be there. Politics and PC have got involved, accordingly, they are trying to be too inclusive, and this has caused it to be extremely expensive to  have the Olympics. Two examples come to mind, Football and Tennis. There are are already more than enough world class venues for both these sports, so what is the point of putting them into the OIympics? What ever happened to strongest, fastest, longest, highest. Beach volleyball for goodness sake.

  8. yes we should and then we should use the money to eradicate poverty.
