  1. Yes we all should use alternative energy there are a  of easy to use alternative energy such as...

    Reduce Your Carbon Footprint

By making the following changes to your lifestyle, you can reduce the amount of carbon waste you produce by over 1.1 tons

Switch 3 lights that you use for 4 hours a day with compact fluorescent bulbs. CFL use and 75% less amount of energy than normal light bulbs

Drive the speed limit. Gas mileage goes down when over drive. So it is good for the environment and it is also the law.

Carpool, take public transportation. or telecommute one day per week instead of driving to work. By doing this you can save a lot of oil being used in your car.

Keep the tires on your car adequately inflated. Check them monthly. Low tire pressure is just one thing that drives down fuel economy.

Try Bye organic foods at the food market.

Try Bye locally grown food at local farms.

    Wash cloths with cold water.

    Get off junk e-mail listed.

    Other Energy Saving Tips:

Try to buy toys with the least amount of packaging volume.

Consider a vegetarian diet for your pets if every dog once a month ate vegetarian of one year it would save enough money to drive every dog to a dog show.

Turn out the light when you leave the room.

Shut down your computer and peripherals each night.

    Reduce/Reuse/Recycling Tips:

Recycle all aluminum cans in your garbage.  Aluminum cans can be turned into new cans. Try to find a recycling center near your house.

Use a washable mug for your morning coffee instead of a Styrofoam cup. Most disposable cup end up in the land fill and with companies manufacturing them create a lot of pollution in the air.

Bring your own canvas bags to the store instead of using plastic or paper.

Buy products in the largest size you can use to avoid excess packaging.

    Travel Tips:

Stop delivery of your mail while you're away. The post office use up a lot of gas if one cent was raise in gas it would coast them over 8 million dollars.

Turn down the heat when you leave the house for a while. You don’t need the heat in your house when you are away for a wile so way still pay for it.

Drive 10 miles less per week.

Keep the tires on your car adequately inflated. Check them monthly.

Change your car's air filter and check it monthly.

    Big Effort - Big Results

-Install solar panels your roof to warm your hot water in your house. I

-Bye a hybrid car. they are 10% more energy efficient so does not need much gas.

Take one less short domestic round-trip flight this year. Planes use up a lot of gas to get you to place to place

Take one less cross-country round-trip this year. If you have to pack light more weight means more gas

  2. Alternative energy should certainly be used if it can be done sustainably, in an ecologically responsible way.

We probably should avoid growing grain to produce ethanol, but we might be appropriately harvesting excessive plant materials from 'dead zones'  of the ocean, places where that excess plant matter decomposing is killing all the animal life,

Some forms of water power give us great volumes of electrical energy with greatly reduced emissions, but some hydro installations have major disruption as a cost.

Wind power is wonderful in some situations, but in others we see wind power forcing our utilities to keep coal fired plants available as backup when they could have been using nuclear had they not been attempting to blend in wind power.

We should be evaluating the situation as a whole, to come up with alternatives that are a best fit rather than accept the first application proposed.

  3. we should use renewable or green energy such as wind power, solar power, and YES tidal power generators have been in use for years in Nova Scotia Canada making use of natures own forces with the tides rising and then falling in the Bay of Fundy area. There is talk that you would have a choice in were you buy your power from on you hydro bill either green {wind.solar},nuclear or water{hydro dams}and the price would vary according to what you choose. In Ontario the government is looking into homes developing solar and wind generators and buying the power from the homeowners that have these facilities on there homes

  4. Energy alternatives are fine but sometimes overwhelming and very expensive for an individual to implement.

The FIRST thing you should do as part of an alternative energy efficiency strategy is to aggressively address your energy use.  The biggest affordable impact an individual can  make is replacing incandescent lights with compact fluorescent (CFL). By first cutting down on the energy demand on a house, you can  downsize the alternate energy project. For instance if you are doing a solar photovoltaic project (PV), you can use fewer (very expensive) panels.

If your project will allow for you to simply address energy efficiency as an alternate energy strategy there is a wealth of energy efficiency information available at the Energy Star website.

  5. No.  If we keep polluting using just oil, we'll run out of oil and we're basically done polluting.  If we keep polluting using a bunch of alternatives, then we can keep polluting forever.  Clearly we'll end up a lot worse in the long run if we keep polluting forever.  We should definitely not use any alternative energies.

  6. it would be hard to find an energy alternitive that we could use for the entire world or a way to harness it

  7. Yes!!

At the rate we are depleting our natural resources and polluting the earth, there won't be anything left for our children and grandchildren.

If you want to see the impacts of mining for coal (for electricity generation) then you should search west virgina coal mining on the web.....you wouldn't believe the devastation.

Silica mining for solar cells is also an issue, but less so than coal because it takes less silica to produce 1kwh of power than it does coal.

We should combine multiple sources based on what works best; solar, wind, turbine generation in the oceans, nuclear, radiant solar, etc.  No one is the panacea, they all can work in combination to change our dirty energy into clean energy.......and create more jobs in the process.

  8. Ocean waves are endless for energy,, free energy from the moon ,ya know! But environmentalist groups don`t want this energy, it might hurt the fish
