Ok, here's the deal. I'm getting ready to start working soon and I was thinking about moving out with my boyfriend. I'm 18, I have a 3 year old daughter, and I live w/ my step father. My boyfriend thinks we should wait a year until I get income tax and I can have a large amount of money to start off with. I want to save for a couple of months and then leave. I think it's time. My daughter and I need our own space and so does my step father. I don't want to wait so long. Do you think I'm being impatient?

  1. Yes, if your boyfriend does not want to do it now and you do it anyway you are gonna have problems. Why does he want you to use your tax return? IMO and from experience, you should be in College getting a degree so you can have a good life and take good care of your kid. Find a man with a profession (not drug dealing and hustling) and get the very best for your daughter. Use your tax return for your daughter not the boyfriend. Don't sell yourself short. Boyfriends are a dime a dozen but your little girl only has 1 chance at growing up right.

  2. just  tell  them

  3. wait as long as you can to move out.  Meaning, more saving just in case something happens so you don't just rely on a tax break.  as a mom you need you're own space but at the same time do you even have everything that you need?

  4. Here's my questions.  You're 18 and had your DD at what, 15?  Is she your boyfriends?  Is he a good dad?  Is he willing and able to be a good dad to her?  You have to think about her first now.  She didn't ask to be born, you chose that and now have to choose what's best for her.

If the guy is good for you and your DD then what is he contributing in a year or so that he can't contribute now?  You say he wants to wait until YOU get your income tax and have money.  What's he adding?  If it's nothing I'd be asking why and looking for a new guy.  I also wouldn't be very happy moving in without a more permanent commitment in the form of a wedding ring.

  5. I would advice you to hang on with your step father for some time till you collect enough money to settle in with your boyfriend. And maybe your boyfriend suggesting that you'll wait instead of moving in immediately indicates that hes not ready for the move at the moment.

All the best. Hope you make a good decision. :)
