Should what governor of california is doing, cutting state employees wages to 6.55 be illegal?

he has cut wages for state emplyees to federal minimum wage to make up for the legislature and his own failures! how can good state employees live on less than state? minimum wage, which is 8.00? even if! he promised to make it up later! state governmetns go about things all wrong! saving money now! by making employees suffer, will just lead!! to another deficit by having to repay them lateer! this make any sense? not to me! OPINIONS ON WHY STATE GOVERNMENTS ARE SO inept?? and can't make proper budgets? ARNOLD BLEW THIS ONE! TERMINATOR SHOULD BE TERMINATED!

  1. that's just an old reagan trick. he's just forcing the legislature to come around to his way of thinking as far as entitlement programs go, (they will have to balance the budget or be held responsible. althiugh in reagans case, we started running defecits, however, the congress was ultimately held responsible. wtf, if you can pull it off it's not a bad strategy.).

    i don't live in cali nor do i think that is the right way to go about things, BUT i see what he's trying to do.

    in my op a lot of state governments are doing things that are in their control better than the feds. this is especially true when it comes to pollution. i mean, congress can't do anything right on the fed level so why shouldnt states do things their way?

  2. Its called an executive order and well within the right of the Governator to enforce.

    The legislature needs to get off its butt and pass the budget already.  

    If you don't like it, go find a job in the private sector that will have far fewer benefits, less sick and vacation days, and higher monthly health insurance premiums.  That is the reality.  CA state employees have it far too good and if they don't like it, move on.

  5. You are right. Instead of cutting their pay and keeping them on the payroll where they can have med insurance and their other benefits, he should just fire them.
