  1. in most places, that's the regulation. it's also the safest and best way to run wire.


  2. only if it will be exposed, or is commercial. residential work does not require conduit

  3. It all depends on the application. If the wiring is inside a wall and in a home, then no. Use can use the proper size Romex wire, but you will need to add some type of protection to the box where the wire penetrates it. If the application is almost anywhere else, the answer would be yes. There are a few exceptions to this, but for the most part this is true.

  4. It depends where you are installing the wiring, either in a house or business/public place. Because there are so many variances you will need to be more specific, give more details. With electrical codes to contend with and the National Electrical code to abide by it would be imprudent to give you any other answer.

  5. conduit can be a waste of money if you are running your wires within a wall. put it in conduit if its succeptable to physical damage.

  6. just put conduit dammit.
