  1. As politicians are to be considered elected representatives of the people, it would be helpful if politicians could be neither male or female (or male *and* female) so as to accurately be understand how each policy affects *all* their constituents. As this generally isn't feasible, it does not matter what gender a politician is; what is more important is their ability to do the job, preferably emotionally impartially. They're not supposed to be arguing their own views; they need to be able to put their own opinions to the side and represent the overall view of the people.

One could possibly argue that as women tend to get more emotionally involved than men, they would be less ideal as politicians. But as politics just doesn't work the way it should, then yes, more women should get involved. Not because women need more representation, necessarily, more as a visual reminder that gender equality is all-important in the political world.

  2. both women and men should be encouraged to join politics and to learn our history and our constitution and our system of laws.

That way we'd have a lot less of the circus we currently have where people are screaming for government handouts and passing unconstitutional law, based on 'feelings'.  I fully believe that our departure from the founding fathers' vision of our country as a Republic has been weakened and severely damaged by ignorant voters and ignorant/greedy politicians.

  3. No, I can't see any benefit. Female members of congress do not have a long list of notable achievements. Perhaps there are some, but they are not well publicized.

  4. everyone should be encouraged to join politics, regardless of s*x
