  1. Medical abbreviations are fairly standardized.  WebMD has a resource to help you find them.  

    Insurance abbreviations normally follow medical practice, but does vary some.  Still, you'll find consistency within the industry.  

    For instance:  HBP means high blood pressure in insurance

    whereas, HTN means hypertension in medical.
