Question:

Should you also clean the label side of a disc?

When people talk about cleaning a disc with a soft, lint-free cloth and wiping it from the center to the edge, are they only talking about cleaning/wiping the BOTTOM of the disc, or the top as well?

I mean, I know it's important to keep the label side protected, but if it's dirty, isn't it better to clean it? Do the same rules apply to cleaning either side of a disc?

  1. It would be prudent to clean both sides. You don't want gunk coming off the label side and getting into the computer, but you don't need to be so careful with the label side. Also make sure that you NEVER use napkins, tissues, toilette paper, or paper towels on a CD. Only cloths such as cotton.

  2. yes only if its really dirty
