Should you buy sofas from charity shops? I saw some sofas in local charity shops, but my friends don't like the idea of buying. It seems too cheap.

What about you?

  1. No.

  2. If you like it ,go for it. As Tracy said, make sure it`s got a fire safety label, still stitched to the sofa, they shouldn`t be selling it without one.

  3. Unless the shop can guarantee that there are no kreepy kritters lurking in the padding,I would say no.

  4. it's a really good way of helping out less fortunate saves you money and also all furniture that is second hand has to be cleaned before can be re-sold and also has to have the fire safety label on it, or it can't be sold becasue of new fire regulations so there is nothing wrong with buying second hand it's a great idea my sofas and chairs are.

  5. yes. Most of the furature in charty shops are good. eithre someone has moved house and cant fit it in or someone has donted it on behalf of a person who died

  6. if u buy it give it a going over with some upholstery shampoo.

  7. you can get some really good ones in charity and they always make sure they are fireproof.i once sent one to a charity shop not because there was anything wrong with it but because i moved into a flat and it was to big ,charity shops wont accept them if they are rubbish

  8. If you need one and it's in good condition and cheap what's the issue?  You are actually doing a good thing because the money goes to the charity....I'm assuming Goodwill/Salvation Army.

  9. You have absolutely no idea what's gone on on those sofas.  Imagine that you are sitting there, eating your tea on the same seat that some fat bloke was using when he was watching p**n.....  no thanks...

  10. you don't know who's been sitting on them and what they've been doing....

  11. Depends on where the sofa's originated. Like second hand beds you don't really know who used them previously. Or how clean the person/s were. Thinking of fleas inhabitating them would put me off - Scratch, Scratch

  12. Well, i wouldnt, its not about the prices, its about who & what has been on the sofa, you just dont know! For example, if you had a bad alerigic reaction to dog hair, and say a dalmation had been lounging on it well, thats trigered your alergies, BUT you culd buy it take it home, remove the covers and wash them, but its up to you.

Personaly i would'nt but like i said, its up to you.

Hope this helps and good luck in you sofa hunting!
