  1. my 9 year old son says you should be on your tip toes.

  2. Yup, you should be on the tips of your feet when stopped in the saddle. Although everyone is sized differently, so it's only a general rule.

  3. you shouldn't be touching ground from your saddle (your leg should be slightly bent when your pedal is at its lowest point from a sitting position). you should however have anywhere from 2-6 inches (depending on type of bike, road, MTB, etc.) of standover between you and your toptube. depending on the size of your foot, you may be able to get a toe down from your seat, but you definitely shouldn't be flat-footed.

  4. it depends a lot. If you happen to be riding any type of jumping bike(BMX, Hardtail, Full suspension) then your feet will touch the ground because the seat should be at its lowest point. If you're on a road bike or any type of bike that you happen to not be doing any extremes on like jumping and tricks, then you should have your leg slightly bent when sitting down and with the pedal at its lowest point.
