  1. It is entirely your choice,!!!

But if you know of a good breeder then I would go to them!

Some Pet shops have no knowledge of the birds they sell and buying them in from different sources can sometimes fetch in disease and other problems.

At least a good breeder will give you good advice on the welfare of the bird they sell you.

  2. I got a pet parakeet at a pet store 2 years ago, I think it's fine.

He's lonely though, he yells when we unload the dishwasher, and is sometimes violent.(i understand it's only when I try to touch his head, or pick him up when he's reeaally tired).

But he's cute, looks at you if you say his name, & if I stand by his cage, he'll get as close as possible to me. He's also hilarious, and can talk. But don't get one in a lone cage at the pet store. He may be hand fed, & already hand trained, but he's older. It's harder for older parakeets  to get used to it's new home, & way more pricey.

Personally, I've never met a bird who wasn't from a pet store, so I can't say anything...

But just to say, I've got experience with store bought birds, but this is just my advice.

  3. i would rather buy one from a professional breeder,although it's more expensive.good luck

  4. most say pet stores are unhealthy but most major stores have greatly improved on the quality of pets and the vet care given in store so yes no problem with petsmart petco ect.

  5. Choose your own way. I wanted a parakeet so I looked at the pet store for cute animals. So choose your way.

    P.S. I love birds
