  1. Yes, of course. Every effort should be made to make your prison sentence interfere with your life as little as possible. We wouldn't want you to be inconvenienced.

  2. I'd recommend getting a letter from your doctor indicating why he feels you need to be incarcerated closer to home.  Have your lawyer pass it on to the sentencing judge.

You can also mention the visits if you have some type of special need that you think will sway the judge.  good luck.

  3. They will send you to a prison that has room, tough if it's the other side of the country.

Edit Ian Uk I think you have misread the question, he is being sentenced in 2 weeks

  4. In a word, 'tough'.

You should have thought of that before you beat someone up.  GBH is more serious than your average 'run of the mill' assault.  You deserve all you get as far as I'm concerned for causing physical and mental injuries to someone.

If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

    Edit:

Joan k, noted, it was late when I answered! : )

  5. when you get to prison you will be given a case worker and you can ask if you can file for a hardship ,to get moved closer to home and most of the time they will do it  but the process takes about 6 to 8 weeks,,i filed for one and got moved from  MO to SC it cost s the state money but they will add it to your parole fees when you get out along with your DNA test  cost

  6. I don't think it's like choosing which hotel to stay at!  I suppose it would be better for children of prisoners if their parent is nearer to them so they get a better chance of keeping some sort of contact through visits without having to travel for hours.

I imagine you get put wherever there is a space.

  7. yes you can choose the prison you want

also you will allowed to choose how you want your 'room' decorated , i believe they have a collection of zoffany books available to help you make your decision

there is a menu for you to choose your evening meal but unfortunately you will have to have the full English for breakfast

leisure facilities include a spa and an indoor pool but you may have to book in advance

    hope this helps twit

  8. Prison = the removal of a persons liberty.

Perhaps you should have thought about your hospital appointments before you committed a serious crime!

  9. Noo you can get sent to any prison. If they have no room in one prison they could send you to a different one.

  10. You must have heard the saying "If you can't do the time, Don't do the crime." It is for punishment / rehabilitation, not so you can have your friends round all the time!!

  11. it's part of the punishment dude, they like to shift you from prison to prison as well if you are a long timer.

Hope you avoid going in and if you do may your D-CAT be swift

  12. No!The further you are away from home! The better!

  13. GBH!

    The further away the better.

  14. Ask yourself this did your victim get any consideration or mercy from you . Then why in h**l do you expect any back . Serve your time and stop whining

  15. One is normally held in the local jail of which the offense occurred while waiting for transfer to a Department of Corrections (DOC) facility.  Eligibility for intake into DOC facility depends on the length of your sentence.  Also, intake into a DOC facility depends on available bed-space as well as the closeness of your release date.

Furthermore, any medical appointments made prior to your incarceration will be rescheduled by the medical staff in the correctional facility where you are held.  This is a security issue!!  Inmates are normally not privileged with information as to when and where they will be transported.  This is a standard policy which was implemented to preserve the safety of the transporting officer and to prevent prisoner escapes.

  16. Although there is a multitude of answers here (including some that are out in left field quite a bit), I am seeing this differently.

A two week sentence is for a county jail NOT a prison. Prisons dont take two week sentences. In your case, you would be going to the county jail within the jurisdiction of the conviction.

Whether in jail or in prison, unless severe physical hardship cases can be documented and proven by visiting family members, visitation priviledges are not a consideration.

Again, in looking at your sentencing, it would take more than two weeks just to file hardship papers, so by the time they start to investigate it, you would be out again.

The facility you are going to will have medical staff that will take care of your needs. Once again, they will definetely be looking at the sentencing time element and if THEY decide any testing can wait the two weeks, it will be postponed until your release. If they feel the testing cannot wait, they will shedule any applicable tests at the local hospital that the jail is affiliated with for obvious security reasons.

Best of luck and I hope this can be useful to you

  17. No you should be put as far away from your home as possible. You want to go around slapping people up then you deserve to be punished.

You shouldn't miss visitors too much I'm sure that you will be looked after by some big hairy daddy when you get inside!!!

  18. Arrhhhhhh Markie, Markie, Markie. What I would suggest is have your mumsie write you a note excusing you from prison as it is going to be too tough for you. Have her tell them that she has told you what a naughty boy you have been and slapped your legs for you and that is plenty.

Poor dear, how dare the courts find you guilty of a crime and then have the temerity to actually send you to jail and even worse one that might be far far away. Bad Judge

  19. Don't break the law then you wouldn't have to worry about which prison you have got to go to!

As my local prison is a high security one i wouldn't want to share my cell with the likes of charles bronson and ian Huntley!

  20. No further away from th better, next you will think twice.

  21. What makes you think you'll go to prison?  It's not as if you've done anything serious like defend your home from burglers or caught speeding or anything else like that.  You'll probably just get tagged and told not to be a naughty boy and that will be your little ordeal over with.  Shame we can't say the same about the person you kicked the sh*t out of.

  22. ITS A PRISON!!

    Not a holiday camp,

and you wont get to keep your hospital appointment, as its a security risk, eg visitors passing you drugs, mobiles etc or worse someone helping you to abscond.

Healthcare will see you and refer you to the hospital nearest to your holding prison.

Maybe you will think twice about commiting a crime again

  23. Surprisingly enough it is the prison authorities who decide where sentences should be served, not the convicts. The expression "tail wagging the dog" springs to mind.

  24. Yes you will get sent to the prison closest to your home providing they have available places and the jail is not on lockdown.

Women tend to go further away from home as there are fewer womens jails. I live in Hull and I went to HMP Newhall in Wakefield as its my allocated jail.

Each town or city has an allocated jail. If I was a man I would have gone to HMP Hull or HMP Everthorpe.

If you haven't been before then I promise you you will be fine as it is not that bad.

    Hope you are ok

  25. Cheeky F**KER !!!!

  26. No, the buggers should be set to hard labour in the desert !

  27. Not a chance, they are not going to do what you want, grow up
