  1. I took a pregnancy workout class offered by a certified teacher. She told us never to do sit ups as the muscles that pull you up divide and move to the sides of you abdomen. They are already straining to hold up the baby. Push ups are ok until you can no longer lay on you stomach. The best exercises are aerobic and use the large muscle groups like your legs and arm. Walking, swimming and other activities that are low impact are best. Best of luck for a great pregnancy and delivery.

  2. I wouldn't suggest the push ups because they cause too much strain on your body with having to pick yourself up. The sit ups aren't good for you either, as you are bending where your belly is, not to mention extremely uncomfortable and possibly making you sick to your stomach.

  3. no - some people say you can continue with your exercise routine into pregnancy for a while, but I personally wouldn't do any heavy strenuous activity that pushes the body, like you're describing, because the risk of miscarriage is high for the first trimester and after that you're advised to slow down anyway.  My own mother ran down a street to beat someone home when she had her first pregnancy and induced a miscarriage - it can happen very easily, and often we don't know we've over-pushed ourselves until it's too late.

  4. No, you shouldn't. I heard the best exercise while your pregnant is doing yoga. Yoga helps you have a healthier & easier pregnancy, so you might want to try that instead.
