  1. Say whatever you want.

  2. No. please don't respond thank you, that sounds kind of pretentious to me. Just say, yeah I like it too.

  3. laugh.... thats a good start.... n say yeah it is a really nice place?

  4. It wouldn't hurt to, but it's not necessary.

  5. If i met you and you told me you were from NY i would get excited and want to know about NY. I think people think it neat because it is in so many films and on the TV on documentaries and was sang about, that it is a exciting thought that one is talking to some one from that place! Obviously you know it like the back of your hand and don't find it exciting, but it is to people who have not been. Well, it is to me any way!! Take it as a complement!

  6. If you feel a response is necessary you can always say, " I enjoy living there."

  7. if ur online, say :D or :)

if ur talkin face to face, then say "i guess" so u don't seem like a snob by saying yeah, or ignoring them

    good luck!

and no its not a weird question!

  8. i wouldn't say thank you i would say yeah what do you think is neat about it!

that way your showing interest in them as well!

    and that's thanks enought! \

  9. I would respond "Thanks, yea its a neat place to live." that way you are furthering the conversation by being polite and opening up territory for them to ask questions, so the conversation doesn't plummet if you were hoping for more talk time with this person-

  10. I am from NY too and I hate when people say ooh like it is the best place to live.  Why don't they try living there and see how much they would like it.

  11. I don't get it.  Saying that it is neat to live in NY is not a compliment.  Replying thank you to that statement is just...odd.

  12. No, not thank you. I think that you should say something like, yeah, it's a pretty neat place, or (I don't know where you live) but you could say, things are so different here, or the people here are so different, or things along those lines.

  13. I would say "yes, it is pretty neat", since you aren't responsible for the coolness of New York, saying thanks would be a little odd.
