I am a bartender at a restaurant and part of my job is to answer the to go phone and take walk in orders. I also have to get the order ready for the guests and make sure everything is included. I have to ignore my bar guests (the ones that ARE tipping me) to do this. What do you think?? I'm not asking for 20%...

  1. If it is a call in...no.  If it is an order that you go in and make with a waitress, bartender, and wait to pick-up, yes 10% would be good as there was no further service do not go to the traditional 15-20%

  2. No in general BUT if you got something special or had a request for something other than a regular item I'd definitely consider it. A bunch of us ate at Cici's pizza where it's a buffet and we left a messy table so I left a couple of dollars. It's really nice to acknowledge people and a "thank you" or kind word to the person's supervisor is a great idea too. I think you have a kind heart and are considerate of others, which is terrific! : )

  3. Depends, I'd say if it's awesome food and the cooks get the tip, then yes.

  4. no, since no personal service is involved.

  5. Why ask? the answer is no! True, a few people will probably tip you but it is not the convention. Carrying the bag from the kitchen to the counter is not big service. You should look for better-paying employment. And I can't imagine that with your attitude it is any pleasure to be your customer.

  6. No.  Tipping is for the good service of the waitstaff.  No one is waiting on you if you are getting carry out.

  7. Well, if the food is READY for you to pick up when you get there. Like in the bag, with the fake silverware and all that stuff...the waitress had to get all of it ready for you. I think you could leave a couple dollars. I do.

  8. Yes, if they are solely working a carryout area of a restaurant. Like the carside carryout at Outback. You should always tip them a couple bucks. Behind the scenes they work pretty hard to get everything together, and they're working outside a lot. $2-3  is appropriate

  9. YES! I work at Olive Garden, people don't know how much work you do. You pretty much do the same thing a server does, so why not get tipped?

  10. only if you were seated in the restaurant then yes it would be okay to leave your tip. but other then that no there is no reason to.

  11. I think if the service was good and they are cool and polite then it's cool to tip a little bit. Sometimes just round up to the nearest dollar or give them a buck or two depending on the price of the food.

    :)

  12. Absolutely not.  You should be receiving an adequate wage for your work.  Waitresses and waiters receive less than minimum wage, every one knows this.  That's why we tip then.  If you think you are not receiving enough pay then ask for a raise or move on.

  13. WHY EXPECT A TIP FROM THESE PEOPLE? WHY DON'T YOU TALK TO YOUR MANAGER NOT TO LET YOU DO THIS MULTI-TASKING JOB!!

  14. Well..as a waitress..and from another point of view than everyone else, I would say, maybe. If the waitress on the phone was polite, and your order went smoothly, and the waitress that received your money for your payment, if you're picking it up, you should give a tip. If it was horrible, than you should just keep it the way it is.

  15. It's your choice to do it or not!

  16. NO WAY!!!!!!!

  17. Not needed since no one waited on you and you never sat at their table.

  18. why would you? no!

  19. yes! i have bartended and waited tables. when you do a to go order you stil have to tip out on that at the end of the night. also when you are doing to gos you have to get everything ready for them. i believe you should tip, not a lot but AT LEAST 10% for to gos

  20. WHATEVER MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD !

  21. yes you should. It's just like ordering a pizza.

They drove there to get it to you, why not give them a little something for their work? =)

  22. no

  23. YES!  Everyone should have to work at a restaurant at one point or another so that they can learn etiquette of drining out and food service!

  24. No, unless they carried it out to your car for you.

  25. If it's delivered, yes.
