  1. Negative...tips are for "service" provided..if you drove there and picked i tup yourself..no wait staff really provided a service.  I'd hardly give a tip for taking your money and ring up the order on the cashier.

  2. it would be nice, as the food, condiments, & silverware doesn't pack itself. i always tip 10% for pick up orders at restaurants, as it's usually for the hostess putting your order together & they'd probably go more out of their way to make sure to get your order right and faster if you were to tip them. 20 % for sit down dinner.

  3. I only do if they have a tip jar

  4. I do but not as much if I sit down and eat as then the waiter/waitress has to work harder if I pick something up I usually will tip about 10% of the cost so usually a buck or 2.  If I sit down and eat I usually tip 15-25% depending on how mucg the meal was.  On a $15 meal will usually tip 4 or 5 dollars.  If I pick the same meal up will usually give $2 tip.  Hope this helps at least this is what I do.

  5. From my experience working in restaurants, I would have to say yes. A couple bucks or more is sufficient, depending on the size of the order.  A tip of 15% of the check is excessive in this case.

Often times it's what happens behind the scenes that deserves a tip. Usually, a carryout person rings or sends in your order just like a waiter/waitress. And many times a carryout person is solely responsible for boxing or packaging all of your food--not to mention, supplying your condiments, sauces, napkins, silverware, etc.

Check your order for accuracy. If it's not right, don't tip. If he/she does a great job, tip a little extra.

  6. I just say thanks for having it ready, but don't tip.

  7. No.  You don't.

  8. you only tip the waitess

  9. i order out at work alot & don't have time to go somewhere & sit.

i do tip, there is someone still taking your order & making sure it is right & on time just like the person coming to your table. it may be a waitress / waiter that is taking time away from other tables or it could be someone stuck by a phone that doesn't get a cut of other tips.

if take out food is late or wrong this is the person that has to hear it. if the food is on time & the order is right i think this person deserves to be tipped like or near the person going table to table.

these people are still handling your food & taking care of you. show them it means something to you

  10. You are suppose to tip when it is a restaurant. I have been a waitress for many years and i do not think you should have to tip if you are just picking the food up. They did not serve you or wait on you. They prepared it and boxed it just like a fast food chain would. Do you tip for fast food? I don't. I do not think it is right to have to tip. What really sucks is if they add the tip on for you and you have to tip weather you wanted to or not.

  11. No, only tip when you are waited upon.

  12. no

  13. I do, simply as a courtesy.

  14. I NEVER give tip if i pick up food i order but i always give them sweet smile and polite good-byes before i leave.

  15. If they bring it curbside, yes. Otherwise, don't bother...

  16. You should absolutely tip these people!  I've been in restaurants for years and I'm continually amazed by the people that don't acknowledge what the team members do for them behind the scenes.  10% or a few bucks is completely acceptable.

  17. No.

You only tip the waiters/waitresses for waiting on you.

  18. I DO I USED TO WORK IN A REATRAUNTTHAT HAD CURBSIDE SERVICE.. AND PEOPLE WOULD CALL IN AND PLACE THE ORDER .. WE WOULD BOX IT UP AND MAKE SURE IT WAS ALL CORRECT.. AND THEN BRING IT TO YOUR CAR WHEN YOU  SHOWED UP. SO YOU DIDNTEVENHAVE TO GET OUT OF YOUR  CAR SO I GENERALLY LEAVE 10%

  19. no, what are you tipping for!!!

  20. Not usually, you didn't receive "service" which is what you normally tip for. I think the exception would be if you went to a restaurant that normally does not have takeout and they did a takeout order for you especially packing it up and providing all the utensils napkins etc. maybe a small tip would be in order.

  21. Having worked in food services for MANY years - a take out order that you pick up at the restaurant isn't something that is normally "tipped" for... although I doubt anyone will turn it down if you offered it to them.

  22. rarely....

however, if it is a mom/pop type place, and they are EXTRA nice and helpful...from receiving the phone call and have prepared you a nice meal... a dollar and the change is greatly appreciated.

normally, the tip goes to the wait person,

more and more these days...I find it hard to tip.... I find it extremely hard to find good service.... just about anywhere.

I usually eat alone...so I am sure the wait person calculates what I will probably leave, when I order.... that is sad...because I have owned a food establishment, and always tip 25% plus for good attentive service.... if it is average, or my water is empty for too long....10% MAX

  23. Yes you should tip.  I work in a restaurant and although I am a server I do work with people who do only To go orders.  They rely on tips as much as servers.  A lot of people don't know to tip the take out person but you should.  Maybe not the 20 persent you would tip when dining in but they do pack up your food, make your salads, and all that stuff that a regular server does for you.  TIP YOUR RESTAURANT PEOPLE!!!!!

  24. First  answer:    No.

Second answer:    If you do,  should be considerably  smaller  tip.
