  1. It depends on how soon you want your drink when the bar is full and how strong you want your drink.  You could wait until you were done, then tip him/her at the end, just like you would a waiter or waitress.

  2. 15% is my opinion and then if there a great waitress.waiter then I will be more genorous. Its about there attititude if you ask me

  3. tip should be at the last drink

  4. maybe after the night just leave a 5 or 10 dollar tip... don't just keep giving 1 dollar tips...

  5. I'm a bartender/ waitress in a Bar/restaurant - what I've noticed is when a customer get a bottle of beer, I usually get $1, when they order a mixed drink or beer on tap, I'll get anywhere from $2 - $5. It also depends on how drunk the person is. The more someone has to drink the more they usually tip. If there's a tab, I'll usually cut it down a bit, which will produce a bigger tip.

With dinner checks the rule of thumb is usually double the tax. I have also noticed that rarely happens too, it's usually much higher.

Usually when I go out I tip much more than I should because I know what bartenders have to deal with.

I think being generous is the way to go, because I work for tips, I don't get a lot of house cash. When you have a good bartender and they remember your name and your drink you should definetly tip higher, because it means they care!!!!!

  6. I think we should tip our bartender not after every drink, but after the last drink, even you give  the total of tips after every drink  at once.

If it is a good bar tender he shouldn't be offended if you don't give him/her tip after every drink. Also, not giving tip after every drink you can see it he/her give you attention not only for the tip. I think it is not right if we the bartender gives us attention only because of the tip.

If he/she is a good bartender he will give good service even without a tip, then before you go you can decide how much tip to give.

Usually the bar tenders get more tips than the waitresses but if both are good you will get more attention and better service from a bartender. Well, it should work like this.

Good luck and don't spoil the bartenders with too much tip, if they are good in their work they will get it in anyway.

  7. I always tip after every drink I order.  That is a good point about a waitress only getting a 15% tip, but I usually tip a waitress at least 20-25%.  I always look at it as they are usually making less than minimum wage and they are busting their butts and dealing with angry people all day/night long.  If I was a bartender, I would appreciate being tipped after every drink I served!

  8. u dont need to tip the bartender after every drink...

  9. No, just leave a tip when you leave.  Sometimes it's the left over change but leave at least a dollar or two.

  10. yes. unless you put it on your tab. that way you can give him an overall tip. but what i do is switch up bartenders. or if im paying 6 dollars for this drink, imma tip him a buck. because its way too expensive already

  11. tab should be left open till end of night, then you can tip just one time 20 to  25 % depend on were you live but ussually 20

  12. Run a tab, then tip according to the total of the tab.

  13. Tip as you leave.

  14. You probably should, but that can be excessive.  Try tipping him/her at the end of the night or when you leave.  Base it upon the total bill/ how many drinks consumed.

  15. My friends and I when we are at a bar and plan on camping out at one particular spot usally either run a tab or just pay with a big bill and leave the ensuing pile of money there till the end and then tip accordingly.  That way the bartender can cash out our drinks if he or she needs too but it's obvious we aren't leaving without forgetting to tip. But if it is crazy crowded and tough to get the bartender's attention in the first place then I get their name and give them a generous tip after the first drink so they remember me but in general I don't think anyone expects you to tip the bartender each time especially if you are there for a while.

  16. No that would cost a fortune.  I always tell them I will tip at the end so they don' think I am a non tipper because i am female and I have heard females tend to tip less

  17. In Austria, tipping is much easier than in the USA.

Over here you just round the bill up to the next 1-2 euro. So if a drink is 4.50 you'll give five.

I think if the bartender, is just pouring beer into a glass you don't have to tip every beer. If however he's preparing a cocktail, then yeah tip them.

Added: I've worked in loads of bars, and have always earned over minimum wage. Tips are nice but I don't think bar tenders and waiters in the UK or Austria live of them.

I used to be happy if I got enough tips to pay for my taxi home.

  18. I tip 20% across the board...

i tip on the first drink, and then after the amount i drink breaks that 1st doller i tipped, i tip another dollar and so on... so usually i tip a dolloer about every other 5$ drink.

If a waitress is talking and not filling my drink up though or NEVER visits the table... then they get less

I have tipped 1 cent before.. to a waitress that i suggested to the manager get fired... i also included a note that said - i would have felt guilty to not tip a waitress.. even one as bad as you...

but thats a story for another day....

  19. tip when you are done for the evening.
