  1. well that dates back to the middle ages, when parents would only cut their baby boy's hair when he was older to symbolize his growing up, but i think it was later than one back then....

we cut my little sister's hair when she was younger than one to encourage her thin hair to grow out and be thicker.

perhaps that is the reason....cosmetics more than myth

  2. I never heard of it, so it must be just a myth. but the fact is that the baby hair kind of falls off, so in some cultures they just shave the baby's hair all off, to let it grow back again nicely (they do it in Malaysia).

  3. Do you mean cutting the ends or do you mean shaving the head entirely? Cutting the ends if the hair is unmanageable should be okay – unless family customs/traditions rule otherwise. But you need to be careful if you’re thinking about shaving the head. The fontenelles are still soft and nicks and cuts may just happen. Even at age one they don’t sit still!

  4. Cut your baby's hair whenever you think they need a hair cut. Alot of people do the traditional 1 year haircut. I have also known people who shaved their kids hair at 5 months so that it would all grow in uniformly and thicker (girls and boys). Personally I cut my kids hair when I thought they started looking shaggy. Which was for my daughter around 2, my sons were both around 10 months old.

  5. The older people in my family says wait until they talk first in complete sentences..Don't know why? But all the male babies in the family has a ponytail or braids until then..I'll have to ask my mother why..But hey it's your baby do what you like..Personally our son isn't getting a hair cut anytime soon..
