Question:

Should your taxes pay for trash collection or should it be privatized?

I think I can see a ton of advantages to privatizing trash collection, like holding people accountable for their waste or doing away with inflated government contracts and opening the door to small business. But I can also see that it would be a cost to the people and in turning having a bigger impact on the lower class.

What do you think?

  1. it is privatized in my area. It is a better solution. It makes it alot easier for me to dump my trash in my neighbors can. No one has noticed yet.

  2. My private trash collector gets $51 every 3 months. One trashcan (he provides). Large item pick-up twice a year but only household items such as furniture. My rate just increased due to gas prices. The City near where I live is trying to figure out how to lower service or raise taxes to cover fuel.

  3. Privatized.  Mine is private, and it works. Get municipal trash collection, just something else city council can s***w up.

He charges $ 4.00 for a green trash bag, and for bulky items, like a chair , it's " let's make a deal."  He has never left us down.

PLUS, he;s just another small businessman who pays taxes and is trying to make an honest living.

If you elect city trash, it;s so much a quarter , you are limited to 3 bags, and there is annual pickup for bulk items.
