Shoulder Injury ruled out Zaheer Khan from Lanka tour
India’s pace attack leader Zaheer Khan got a shoulder injury ahead of the Sri Lanka tour that kicks off from 18th July. The injury has ruled the fast bowler out of test series against the Lankans. The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has called upon Karnataka fast bowler Abhimanyu Mithun to replace injured Zaheer.
The strike fast bowler was rested for the devastating tri-nation series played in Zimbabwe in May with the intention of preserving him for the exhaustive season ahead. He made the Asia Cup squad of India and played all the four matches of India. Despite the below par performance of Indian seamers, Zaheer’s performance was remarkable in the tournament. The cause of the shoulder injury has not been disclosed by the BCCI. Though the board did not reveal for how long the fast bowler has been advised rest but the signals are that the injury will make him miss, at least, the Test series against hosts as the ODI squad for the tri-nation series will be picked later on.
Zaheer on the other hand did not talk much about his injury in his Twitter feed. "Shoulder is troubling me a little need to sort it out ...hope to be back soon ... Important season ahead ..." tweeted the left arm pacer.
Tumbling pace resources is still a cause of concern for India and now the injury of Zaheer khan would be a big blow for the blue shirts.
