Shoulder injury: Tennessee Titans coach Mike Munchak hopes QB Jake Locker fine next week – NFL News
Tennessee Titans coach Mike Munchak has confirmed that quarterback Jake Locker should be fine and fit from a shoulder injury well in time for the next game, as the injury is not of a serious nature that will require a longer period for recovery and rehab.
Jake was sent back on the sidelines after suffering the injury almost halfway through their game against the New England Patriots and did not return.
He later confirmed he was ready for the comeback but was held back by the team’s medical staff. The QB was injured in the play, which also ousted receiver Nate Washington and later Munchak labelled the entire development a controversial happening.
He said:
"I felt like I could go back in, and I let them know that. The medical staff made the decision they did."
Locker was injured while tackling safety Patrick Chung at the end of a fumble return. Apparently, he did not require further test on the shoulder and in spite of the fact that the team has not officially confirmed his availability for the next game he should
be ready to go for the next game.
It was his first start in the season after being named as the offence leader in a competition with former leader Matt Hasselbeck. He is expected to retain the position in spite of the injury, which nevertheless is not a serious one.
He replaced Locker for the rest of the game, which according to the coach came as a good development for him as he was in favour of the former to start with, although it did not make much difference for the Titans at the end.
Meanwhile, the coach has refrained from giving a final word for the receiver’s comeback. He said the training staff was in a better position to determine recovery and return of him.
Washington is as much important to overall performance of the team’s offence as the quarterback and his longer absence from the field can have an impact on the overall output of the offensive line. The Titans need to be hundred percent on the players fitness
to regain the touch of last season, which they could not find in the season opener.
