Shoulder injury: Tennessee Titans place TE Jared Cook on IR for last three games – NFL News
The Tennessee Titans have confirmed they will place injured tight end Jared Cook on the injured reserve list for last three games of the National Football League (NFL) regular season.
Coach Mike Munchak confirmed that the player has suffered a torn rotator cuff during the game versus the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday (Dec. 09) and that he will spend the rest of the season on the IR, which the official called an unfortunate development
for the TE.
Cook’s shoulder was hurt in the third quarter of the game. He was taken on the sideline, inspected and then moved to the locker room not to return for the rest of the game.
It is rather a setback for the team, irrespective of the fact that the season is almost over for them as far as the playoff contention is concerned. With only four wins the team is nowhere closer to claim credentials for a playoff berth.
He nevertheless is 15th player to have been placed on the IR this season and the list might be extended further as still three games are more to go in the season.
While confirming his ousting the player said he was rather disappointed about the outcome of the injury and with the fact that he will not be a part of the squad for the rest of the season. Jared earlier missed quite a few games and this is second time that
he is ousted out of the team in the season.
Meanwhile, the coach has not confirmed if the team is likely to take a replacement at his place from outside the team or going to cover him through a swap of positions between other players.
It is pertinent to mention that Cook is second player of the Titans to have suffered shoulder blow. Quarterback Jake Locker has also missed five games earlier in the season with a similar injury.
Locker injured his shoulder in the season opener and then suffered the same blow in the second to sit out the next five on the sidelines.
