Shoulder injury prevents Dani Pedrosa from taking 2011 MotoGP season title
The Spanish MotoGP rider, Dani Pedrosa suffered from an unfortunate shoulder injury at Le Mans, France in 2011. Pedrosa broke his right collarbone in the crash while competing at the second place in the race.
Pedrosa had a moderate start in the 2011 season. At Losail circuit in Qatar the scored a third place on the podium as his teammate Casey Stoner took the win aboard the Honda RC212V.
The Spaniard claimed that he felt severe pain, numbness and lacks of strength in his left his left arm. After the medical check up it was declared, Pedrosa had a nerve pressurised by the titanium plate, fixed on his left collarbone.
During a crash in 2010 MotoGP season at Japan, he picked a collarbone fracture and a severe ankle sprain. Though his fracture was operated by with stain on his arm is revived the pain.
Pedrosa felt pain during the season inaugural race at Qatar. As he reported that he could not even hold the handle bars by the end of the race. It cost him to lose win in the desert.
After the diagnosis, he opted to delay his surgery till the second race of the season at Jerez, Spain. He tended to perform well at his home ground.
Though he could not win the race but he took the second place on the rostrum, confirming him as the title contender.
The Japanese GP was delayed due to the earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan. The long inter-race gap helped Pedrosa to take the surgery. He underwent a successful surgery and removed the plate and screws from his shoulder.
On his return at Estoril, Portugal he was physically fit for racing and marked his comeback with a win in Portuguese Grand Prix. Even though he was feeling pain but he still managed to resist the pain and take the win.
Coming to Le Mans for French Grand Prix, Pedrosa was in strong form and conducted the race practice with fast pace.
 After qualifying for fourth position for the race start he competed on the edge with fellow riders and shortly took the second place in the race battle.
While defending his race position he got engaged in a quarrel with late Marco Simoncelli. The young aggressively racing Italian took the risky pass on Pedrosa that ended up in crash for the Spaniard.
Pedrosa came in contact with the rear end of Simoncelli’s bike and lost the control of his bike. Simoncelli escaped the crash but Pedrosa ended up with a bitter right collarbone fracture.
Simoncelli was penalised with ‘ride through’ penalty and also faced harsh criticism from MotoGP fan, paddock and fellow riders.
The Spanish rider that looked to clinch his first season title collapsed with an unfortunate injury. He missed season’s second home event at Catalunya.
After the surgery he was forced to miss three events following the French GP. After missing points in France he skipped Catalunya, Silverstone and Dutch TT Assen events. Losing points from four events dropped him to fifth place in the 2011 MotoGP world championship.
On his return from the rest he participated in the Italian GP and took eighth position. Coming to the German GP that held at Sachsenring he took the win.
In the following rounds he scored four podium places and his third and last win in the Japanese GP at Motegi.
Two surgeries and an injury held his dreams from coming true in the 2011 MotoGP season.
