  1. If it's a pre-employment test for jobs that would require operating machinery, including a vehicle - or anything else that could put them or others in danger, I don't think so. Otherwise, yes. Alcohol and tobacco are drugs, and people don't miss out on jobs over that.

  2. depends; if your innocent then there should be no problem

i honestly dont think so .

  3. I don't believe so. Hiring bad employees is costly to the company. While this may not seem like a big deal to huge corporations, you must also consider that, although they do make a good deal of money, they have to buy products and pay their employees and other miscellaneous expenses.

And besides. When you go into the store, you expect good customer service, right? Someone who's more concerned about what drug they'll be doing next probably won't provide the best service, that is if they show up for work that day.

So taking a quick test before you're employed saves everyone a lot of trouble in the long run. And if you're not doing anything wrong, this should be a minor stress-free procedure. :)

  4. You have the right to refuse to take the drug test.  They have a right to refuse to hire you on that basis.  They are obliged to keep the results of the test confidential.

  5. depends on why you are being tested

  6. No, considering their effects could put you or others in danger, especially when fast or heavy instruments are used, or your social skills may scare customers away.

  7. I'm assuming you are talking about a "pre-employment drug screening."

It varies depending on what state you are in, and what kind of job you are applying for.

Some places may ask you to do a drug test during your employment there, and typically a refusal is considered a "positive test" or its considered a refusal of management's orders and you can receive punishment for this.

Many jobs require drug screenings to be administered after an accident has happened or an injury claim has been made by an employee. This is basically so that if you are hurt on the job they can place blame on you if you are (or have been recently) under the influence of drugs/alcohol.

Some jobs will ask upon hiring that you consent to random drug testing throughout your employment.

The tests can be confidential, unless you consent to them being given to any insurance companies that you or the company hold a policy with.

If you work for the government or any government contractor, they have the right to refuse employment based on drug testing.

If you are on probation or parole, and it is court ordered that you be tested, than it is absolutely not an invasion of your privacy, but rather a term or condition of your probation/parole.
