  1. The skills are quite different. A batsman has to have good hand-eye coordination along with quick reflexes, speed and stamina. Bowling is a more athletic skill especially with fast bowlers also requires strength and stamina.  Simply put not all bowlers have this skill.  It one thing to know what the bowling strategy is and another matter having the skill to deal with it.

I enjoy watching Brett Lee and Freddy Flintoff batting.

  2. Everyone has a speciality, bowlers cannot be two things, unless that is what they are meant to be.

  3. bowlers like farveez maharoof, paul collingwood, are better batsman rather being called as bowlers.but i dont expect top class batting from fast bowlers.......but i expect spin bowlers to play well as all-rounders.

  4. Batsmen are selected because they can get lots of run. When do you see an opener who also bowls? Never.

Bowlers are selected because they can take wickets. They are the lower order batsmen, batting at 9, 10 or 11.

If they can bat a bit too it helps of course.

Glenn McGrath took zillions of wickets and couldn't bat for toffee.

I like Stuart Broad for England, a  great batsman, but not called an all rounder....yet!

  5. The problem is that bowlers do not have the batting technique like batsmen and that is the main  reason they are not able to bat

    well.

  6. You cant expect a professional bowler to be able to bat well too..

They spend most of their time perfecting their bowling techniques.

I remember when every one wa bagging Glen McGrath about his batting,(or his lack of batting)..He spent a h**l of a lot of time in the nets, trying very hard to perfect his batting..We needed him as a bowler not a batsman so your theory really is incorrect...Not every bowler has the luxury of being a good batsman..

I loved watching McGrath bat, used to get a good laugh, also i like watching Brett Lee and Mitchell Johnson batting..

And for another good laugh there is always Murali..He is good for entertainment..

  7. Batting is not as easy as it appears. You need to watch the ball till the bat for which eye-hand co-ordination is important. He should place it between fielders or over a fielder. A player who is primarily a bowlers cannot have all those qualities. Because of their bowling prowess, they might think the ball is going to pitch at an location and going to move in a direction and swing the bat. This could work at times, if he makes a right assessment of the delivery, or the bowler is bowling poorly. But bowlers possess different kinds of deliveries with variation in line, in length, in movement and in velocity.

I enjoy watching Lee, Kumble etc batting. Jason Gillespie is another choice.

  8. I think they only concentrate on Bowling and they have not enough time or they dont want to concentrate on batting..

Murali n Nel Batting i enjoyed most
