Is is better for a company to have a cafeteria instead of just stupid vending machines? Wouldn't the employees be happier? Don't you hate eating just junk food, or fast food, or having to take your lunch everyday? It sucks..I would so much rather have a cafeteria.

  1. Would you be willing to take a two or three dollar an hour cut in pay so the company can afford to do this? Do you have health insurance? If you do, and you make ten dollars an hour, the company is actually paying you about fourteen or fifteen dollars an hour with what they pay for their share of the cost. Social security tax. They pay a portion of that for you to. Workman's compensation insurance. That's right. They pay it. Perhaps if you brought good food with you for lunch. The company cannot be expected to supply everything for you. Some do because they can afford it. But most cant and wont because that is just another way for someone to sue them over something stupid. Now they have to hire more staff to run the cafeteria. Which means charging high prices to help pay for this extra extravagance. Etc. etc. etc.

  2. It isn't the company's responsibility to make sure you have good food.  Take some initiative and bring some from home.

  3. It is but a lot of cafe food is reheated and is full of c**p. I suggest taking your own lunch- at least you know what's in it!

  4. It's great if the company is big enough to do so without impacting employee's salaries negatively. Keep in mind, they now have to staff the cafeteria, stock it, pay fees for permits, deal with inspectors, all in all, dabble in the restaurant business (a real headache) with no profit and all of the work. Sure, it's a hassle to take your lunch, but at least your salary won't change because of it.
