Question:

Shouldn't the best player on the best team win the MVP?

I think Kobe deserved the MVP last season. He had a very good regular season. But, don't you think the award next season should go to the best player on the best team?

Last year it was assumed it should go to a player from the W Conference, due to it's unquestioned overall superiority. People assumed the Celtics 66 wins were questionable, due to playing in the Eastern Conf (even though they had a great record v the W Conf). Now we know that the Celtics were in fact the best team last year.

My question is: If they Celtics can match their win total last year or improve on it, shouldn't the MVP Award go to a Celtic? Feel free to disagree, their are A LOT of deserving candidates. (CP3, Lebron etc...)

  1. The person who made the most difference to his team that helped them win a championship is Kevin Garnett.  Without KG, who will anchor the Celtics' defense?  Without KG, would they even be a "defensive team" at all?

The sole reason Kobe got the MVP is that Kobe is 30 and has been in the league for 12 years and he's never gotten the MVP before.  It's pity. After all, the LA controlled media hailed Kobe as the greatest player in the world even back in 2001... And as the greatest player in the world, Kobe needed 7 more years to even get a legitimate nomination!  It's funny how the first time he's even a nominee he's got the award... ROFL!  See the media bias?

Everyone knows, without CP3, the Hornets would suck.  Everyone knows, without Lebron, the Cavaliers would suck.  Everyone knows, without KG, the Celtics would suck.  And everyone knows, without Kobe, the Lakers actually had a winning record... ROFL!  How sad is that?

Apparently, Kobe's one dimensional ability to score (aka shot jock a lot and get a lot of points) could be made up with teamwork.

Maybe Kobe should be like D-Wade and come off the bench!

  2. I think Kobe should get it again we need to fill his gaping whole that was left in his rear by paul pierce. Lets keep stuffing it with trophies till he can no longer jump over cars and gets runned over by the next one!

  3. No not really.  I think the real MVP would be someone who can make the people around him better.  For example, if you were to take Dirk Nowitski and put him onto the Grizzlies, he wouldn't make the Grizzlies any better but if you were to take Steve Nash and put him onto the Knicks, they would somehow get better.

  4. corey get off the celtics nuts seriously. i thought you were a loyal warriors fan.

answer to your question no. its a balance of being one of the leagues best players individually but also carrying your team to the playoffs and a solid season record.

that is why we we have a finals mvp for the best player in the finals.

the mvp goes to the player who carried his team throughout the season with all the credentials worthy of it.

  5. MVP should just go to th best player on the team with the best record

  6. No, unless there's a player on the team that is top 5 among all players in scoring. I don't think Pierce or Garnett or Ray was top 5 in scoring last season.

  7. No, the award shouldn't go to the best player on the best team. If that is what it is about, then the name of the award needs to be changed. It is given to the League's most valuable player.

You take Pierce or Garnett off of the Celtics, they still win 45 games.

You take Kobe off the Lakers, they win 25 games

As much as I hate LeBron, you take him off the Cavs, they win 20 games

  8. If the Hornets finished ahead of the Lakers by a game, the MVP would've been given to Paul. Tired of all the Paul made the Hornets better..  Peja hardly played any games prior to this year.. He is healthy this year and the Hornets suddenly win games! ROFL! Peja=runner up

Also, why are you talking to yourself? LMAO!

    hornets without peja=suck

    cavs without lechoke=better

    celtics without kg&allen=24 games won

  9. It all depends, but it should.  It depends who shows themselves as the front runner of the team. Celtics have three allstars on their team and it's impossible to pick the best out of those three.  If you look at the stats...KG, PP, and RAy allen's numbers were all down last year.  If they get the best record in the NBA the only way to give the mvp to them is to give it to all three.  To me none of them really stood out.  KG was the defense and had descent numbers, but they all did pretty good.  If your the best your stats should reflect that as well as your team record.  None of the celtics had MVP stats but a great team record.  You have to both.

  10. not unless if he's a ball hogg

  11. Didn't you see me and the Lost Boys dominate them by 24 points?

That's why my Neverland Team is the best of all time!

    Think Happy Thoughts!

  12. mvp is most valuable player not best from best team because if paul pierce would get injured the celtics would probably still make the playoffs same about kg and ray allen

  13. I think Kobe deserved it too!! He was playing amazing and getting his team involved. Next year it should go to the best player on the best team but I think like this year it will go to the best player on the best west team just cause the west is so much harder

  14. MVP should got to the person who is a superstar but make his whole team better Like Tracy McGrady

they had a 22 win streak then when yao got hurt T-Mac took charge

even tho they didnt beat the jazz in the 1st round t-Mac Deserves it as much as anybody scoring all the point mean that you no your team will not win unless U Score like with Kobe n Lebron

  15. If it's truly a Most Valuable Player award I think it should be the player who means the most to his team. KG, Lebron, CP3, and Kobe were deserving last season!

  16. Yes it should but i think that since the celtics have three superstars (questionable), their glory is kinda split between the three since there isn't a clear best on the team. as for the best player on the best team, i think it should be changed to the best player on a contender.

  17. The problem with your logic is that the best player in the league is not always on the best team. Kobe has a great season last year, and my opinion is that he won the MVP in part because he never had before. I actually believe LeBron was the better player, as he did more to get the Cavs where they were than Kobe did with the Lakers. Kobe had Gasol and Bynum (before his injury). Who on the Cavs is as good as those two? I think the same can be said for Chris Paul vs. Kobe. As for Paul Pierce, he really didn't do much for the Celtics until KG came along, and while Pierce could be called the better player (Finals MVP), KG was more valuable to the team than Pierce. As with anything judged, every answer is subjective.

  18. KG was the true MVP anyone that knows basketball knows he was the most valuable player.

  19. mvp stands for most valuable player and if the a celtic cant get mvp because there are more valuable players on that team
