"dime a dozen" be reworded and adjusted for inflation?

Do you honestly know anything that is still a dime a dozen?

  1. You're right: it's getting harder to find things for a dime, let alone a dozen of them!

You can get a book of match, which has more than a dozen matches can be purchased for a dime.

And store-brand lunch bags (the folding kind) averages out to be less than a penny at some stores.

Oh, also, you can find some really neat things at garage/yard sales some times... for a dime, or dozen for a dime, like pens or pencils. Really!

  2. Sounds good in theory, except that the phrase designates something that is worth almost nothing.  Hence, not only does adjusting for inflation contradicts the spirit of the statement, but by NOT adjusting for inflation you actually enhance its meaning.

  3. Yeah should be like a  Benji a Bunch" a benjamin a bunch

  4. LOL!!

Hey, but you can still get "a penny for your thoughts!"
