In prison female guards are allowed to watch and search male prisoners, but male guards aren't allowed to watch and search female prisoners. Why is that?

  1. Less potential for abuse, probably.

And I'm guessing that some male guards aren't comfortable with searching and watching their male prisoner counterparts.

  2. The pictures of female "guards" at Abu Graibh were pretty disturbing.  And a woman was in charge of the prison at the time.

P.S.  Kate M., please consider getting some help.  It's not healthy to think that all men are rapists, that no man can be trusted, and that there is no use for the male half of the world population, as your recent answers suggest.  Good luck.

  3. It is most definitely sexist. But it probably won't be changed because no guy is going to complain about it.

  4. Yes it is sexist. But would most men actually prefer to be searched by male guards? If the answer is yes, then male guards only should be used.

  5. Because male guards cannot be trusted. This is true for all men.

  6. definitely sexist.

  7. Yes, it's sexist.  Female guards should not be allowed to search male prisoners.  I personally think that male prisons should have only male guards/staff and female prisons should have only female guards/staff - for many reasons.

  8. Yes and no not really.

  9. I think the rationale was that it is much rarer for a woman to rape a man than vice versa.  But it is sexist in that it treats the sexes differently.

  10. Yes it is sexist!

  11. We are giving women a much stronger form of chivalry through feminized legislation

  12. That could be considered sexist...and it doesn't matter.

  13. Yes, it is indeed sexist. The male prisoners should be given as much privacy consideration as the female prisoners.
