  1. Lets see I have this chart that I got from a book and it says...

Chestnut, Sorrel, Liver Chestnut, Rose Grey, and Dun horses look best in Sand, Whiskey, and Chocolate colors:)

But it also says that Bay, Black, White, Gray, and Blue Roan horses look best in colors like Purple, Raspberry, and Red. =]

    And:

"Horses in the neutral group usually look good in choices from either of the above listed groups, depending on the exact color and rider preference"

    Hope this helps!

  2. boots- black

    shirt- white

    hat- black

    chaps- black?

    saddle pad- white

do u ever wear jodphurs- white or cream if so.

  3. Colors that go well with Bay are:

Teal, Hunter Green, Purple, Lavender, Pinks (all shades), Blues,  bright jewel tones, and pastels. Stay away from Yellow and Orange, it will highlight all the dirty spots on your paint.

My bay has been shown in all the colors above. My favorites on her were Teal, Hunter green and Purple. I even did a black year that almost killed us because I blended in with her too much, she has a pretty dark top line.

My chaps, hat and boots as well as belt and jeans are all black, always, it is good to match all those points of your outfit. Blue jeans under black chaps looks tacky IMHO. My saddle, bridle and breast collar are all a pretty light brown leather. My pad is white but I put a Navajo blanket over it that matches the color in my outfit.

Some good number pins would be either solid silver concha or rhinestone ones are fun.

  4. so I'm guessing that she's a light bay right? well anyways bays look real good in dark blues, purples, and so on.... I would go with any color besides the reds.... red would just class with her color to much.

now you will want to buy your shirt FIRST and then find a color on your shirt (that isnt the main color but if it is then that's ok too) and try to find a saddle blanket that will match the color. You will want a saddle blanket and not a pad (but put a underpad on the horse and then your saddle blanket). If you cant find a blanket that doesnt match any color on your shirt then just go with black.

if you want to just kind of blend in with what everyone else will be wearing then make your hat black, your boots black, and your chaps black....

I think that any color of shirt will look good with your horse besides any shades of red...... and the patterns dont have to be anything specific....it could just be one solid color, flowers, stripes......anything goes....... and like i said... make your saddle blanket match your shirt some how or just get a black blanket...

your hair needs to be LOW...... (so it wont get in the way of your hat) and up in a bun.....

    good luck and have fun!

  5. I have a paint horse, and all of his stuff matches his eyes. I use dark blue and light blue. Also one tip you can do, is find a picture of the horse, or one that looks like her, and copy it paste it on to paint. And draw on tack and decide what color looks the best. For boots for humands, I always go with a dark brown color, chaps, black are probably the best because they go with everything, or if you want to match your boots, dark brown. To stand out, I would get a white or cream colored hat. Make sure you match your shirt with your pad! And if you can aford it, get a scarf to match and number pins to match also. A matching onsomble always looks the best, and if you can't find matching patterns, have one thing be just a plain color, but make sure the colors match EXACTLY, it is tacky if they do not match.

    Good luck,

  6. You say she is a bay with paint markings? If you are looking to stand out, I would use a light color, such as orange or pink. But if you are just looking for a color to go with her coat, I would go with a red or a purple, possibly a turquoise. For red and purple, I would go with a black hat and chaps, and tan for the turquoise. The patterns should reflect you, so pick something you like. I prefer swirly designs, but whatever you like is what you should wear. My favorite shirt is black with pink swirls on it, since I show in pink. Try browsing through hobbyhorseinc.com, they are a show clothing dealer, and look for some shirts with the color you like in it. They have millions of options - I bought several shirts and matching pads from them.

    Hope I helped!

  7. Your horse would look very good in cool colors (blues, purples, greens, etc.) since she is a buckskin color. Anything with those types of colors would complement her coloring very well.

As for you, make sure your leather is close to matching. Chaps should complement your saddle and your boots. The colors should probably be darker since your horse is lighter. They don't need to be black, but a mahogany brown would be nice.
