  1. if you feel that uncomfortable about it buy a post jack for the basement (maybe 25$) and stick it under where the fish tank is going and spread the weight amongst the beams using a 4x4

  2. If your house is on a slab, you should be fine. If it's on piers, then you might have a problem.

What you need to account for is how much weight you'll incur per square inch when it's full.

If your aquarium is long and not too deep, then your weight per sq/inch won't be that bad. If however, it's shorter and deeper, then you'll incur more weight over a smaller area.

Typically, that small of an aquarium would be fine. If your house is on piers, and you know which way the flooring joists run, then you might want to position the aquarium perpendicular to the joists so that the weight is spread across as many joists as possible.

I think you'll be fine either way really.

  3. you will be fine, i have had way bigger tanks upstairs,

  4. That's only about 450 pounds spread out over about 3 or 4 square feet.  Or no more than 1 pound / square inch.  That's about the same loading as three average people standing close together having a conversation.  Unless your floor is egregiously underdesigned (as in so far out of code it feels like a trampoline), no worries.
