Question:

Showbiz or the Real World?

I have beautiful, talented children (don't we all?).

My daughter got to play an Extra in a Disney film when she was 4. She LOVED it. She's wanted to be on TV or in movies ever since (what kid doesn't, really?)

She's almost 6. She can memorize ANYTHING and deliver her lines perfectly.

My problem is, I know there are THOUSANDS of parents trying to push their kids into show business. But I was also upset that my parents never supported any of my dreams growing up. They'd just say, "you can do anything" and stop at that.

I've shown my daughter behind-the-scenes type shows, how it's all Hard Work and Good Attitude no matter how she feels, etc. She really wants this! And I KNOW she'd be great at it! My son is showing interest as well. He's 4 and an absolute comedian - also reading and delivering lines flawlessly.

I'd like some HONEST opinions. If you have more questions, ask me!

Thanks all!

  1. showbiz

  2. maybe you should start them out by having them do a couple of commercials or tv shows or something to let them get the feel for everything and if they get turned down let them see the disappointment in showbuisness. after that ask them if they still want to act after seeing alllll the pro's and cons. if they say yes then let them live their dream. if they say no them let them live their life as a regular kid

  3. Thats such a hard choice.

I mean we all know what the chances are of a kid (or anyone)making it big in Hollywood are very slim. But if they do think of all the fame and fortune. They will be set for life. But then again the downside. Does any of us really want our kids to be the next Britney Spears-even if it means millions? Honestly i dont. Its not worth the money.

But if this is something your child is set on and you have the desire as well i say follow her dreams, let her give it a shot. If she lucks out, hits that one in a million shot and starts making it big then you need to make certain she understands reality and life. That she doesnt end up like the next Lindsey Lohan type twit. That she doesnt let fame and fortune go to her head and stays down to earth..
