  1. Bolt's omission of that traditional act of sportsmanship (shaking hands, etc) is a VERY minor point. Hindsight is 20/20. He should have taken the time to congratulate his competitors. All the naysayers are forgetting to mention that USAIN USUALLY DOES take time to do this!

In this case, it is understandable how he could begin celebrations and forget his 'duties'.

He has the RIGHT to celebrate and to have fun as a part of the rewards for his hard work. Nothing at all wrong with that.

  2. I go to track meets in Jamaica a lot and that is just the way Usain has been for the greater part of his career... for like ever!

I do not think athletes have a duty to congratulate their competitors. Bolt is pretty cool and interacts. It is a glorious moment to have broken a world record and when you do that you are, indeed, number one!

The other athletes do not seem to mind... I mean, what do you tell someone at that point in time.... "Thanks for racing for second place" or "Sorry, but I had to win this one" or "You did good placing dead last"

Usain's moment is now. He is just 22 and needs to have a little fun. Jamaicans are jovial and he is doing all this for us back home... you other people would not get it.

Most of us behave that way when we are happy. A world record is the ultimate sign of greatness in any field. Bask and showboat all u want Usain.... just gwaan tek off one one second offa di record...

    Jamaica love yuh!

  3. Big up yuhself Posse, yuh say it straight.

    One Love.

                            verse (1)

And the lord looked and saw Usain in his 100m victory,

and he saw Usain's outstretched hand glorifying and honouring him,

    and he was pleased.

                            verse (2)

And the lord said, Usain, go ye forth and win that 200m race,

beaketh thou ye, the record seteth by mortal man.

and when thou have won, doeth for me, my son, the 'Gully Creeper'

And Usain wenteth and dideth accordingly, and the lord was pleased

And the world Loved Usain of the Lightning Bolt exceedingly.

                           verse (3)

And the nation of the tribe of China, sang songs of Happy Birthday,

for Usain of the Lightning Bolt, and Jamaicans and the Caribbean

    shedeth eye wata.

    Fi  Real.

  4. Funny about Ato.  I'm Jamaican, and I'm proud of Usain, but I think he went a bit overboard.  I am learning that that's just his personality, but I think he (and all winners) need to win with humility and lose with grace (I need the Americans to hear that phrase!).

  5. As a Trinidadian, I'm sooo mad at Ato for going along with his NBC bias-@$$ed partners and talking all that c**p!! The people of T&T are VERY happy for Jamaica and all their athletes who are showing the world what hard work (without drugs) brings. The thing is Ato is the last person to talk about showboating, because in his days in the Olympics, he and the American, Maurice Green used to do a h**l of a lot of showboating!! HE SHOULD STOP HIS c**p TALKING NOW!!!
