I am 13 and I am going to start showing. I went to watch some people show and they were wearing cowboy hats and chaps and black jeans oh and button down t shirts. Would this be an ok outfit....?

-a pink button down long sleve shirt that we are going to jewl

-black boots with the western fringe thing on them

-black jeans

-chaps (maybe)

-a black belt with some silver of jewls on it

-a black cowboy hat with possibly a pink band

does this sound good?

I will most likely get a pink saddle pad for the horse I will be riding!

  2. thats sound good i like the idea of black and pink but a pink saddle pad will go great with your clothes

  3. It totally depends on what kind of show that you plan to attend..Is it a breed show?  4-H show?  All have rules when it comes to certain things that you can/can not wear...or at least, wouldn't want to wear.  I don't know if you really meant to write t-shirt or not, I never heard of a button down t- shirt...but you definitely want to always wear a long sleeved shirt, buttoned at the neck (If you want to use pink, I would use pink with black in it or vice versa, and keep your hat band the same color as your hat...contrasting hat bands are as out of style as the loud colored saddle pads.   with some sort of tie (those pre, tied scarves are used a lot, they velcro in the back under the collar)....Actually, all black isn't bad, but it depends on what color your horse is and you didn't mention that...it's important that  you dress to flatter not only yourself but your horse as well.  If you are going to be riding, chaps are a must, and rarely are you going to get a good fit unless you have them made for you...your pants and your chaps must be long enough so that when you are mounted, they still cover all but the toe of your boots...and yes, speaking of boots, flashy isn't the thing, nor is pointed toes.  Quality and fit is more important than bling...if you have to make a choice.  A good hat with a good crease is absolutely the most important thing to consider, even if you have to scrimp somewhere else...colored saddle pads pretty much went out in the 70's along with the pads with the fringe on them.  Take someone who shows with you next time and have them point out to you what is acceptable and what is not.  A big, flashy western belt buckle is less than impressive unless it is a GOOD buckle, and good buckles can cost as much or more than a good hat....If you go the cowboy way...new, pressed, well fitting jeans, good long sleeved shirt, buttoned at the top with a tie, good boots, good belt (doesn't have to be flashy) and a good, custom made pair of chaps, you can't go wrong.  You can get by with black or blue jeans....even Rockies will work if they fit right and are long enough.  I didn't mean to shoot your balloon down, just trying to be honest and helpful.

  4. that sounds pretty good, but if you get chaps, get black ones. an you may want to change it from black to brown for a more unique look, unless you already have the black stuff.

  5. Sounds good. That would be sweet to get a pink saddle, but you will just have to make sure that everything matches it every year that you show. You might also want to try and get pink on your bridle, halter, and leadrope. Also you don't need chaps, they are just an extra. What I wore when I showed was just a plain black western hat, make sure it won't fly off or points are taken off, a hot pink shirt, with a pair of light blue jeans, a pink belt, and black lace up boots. But my horse didn't really match me since she had a lime green halter and black/red leadrope. lol But thats a different story.

  6. This sounds really good!

and i dont know were you are showing but one thing you MAY be missing is a pin. They are required where i show, so i would check in on that!!

good luck horse shows are alot of fun!!!
