  1. They were doing so well.  2 through to the second round with no faults, with Nick Skelton going out in the first round.  The 4th horse you refer to wasn't allowed to compete as he didn't compete in first day of team competition as he wasn't fit enough.

Why do we always crumble under pressure.  Throughout the rounds for the team and individual up until the final Ben Maher had only got 4 faults.  In his final round he got 20!

  2. Great Britain, not England.  Your ignorance is an annoyance to all who reside in GB.

Edit: lol child.  It's comments like that which cause the tension between Scotland, Wales, Ireland against England

Edit 2: Game Over - I'm not going to play childish games with you, grow up, learn to speak and spell properly and then talk to me about the english language

  3. ok and you asked this question why?

  4. I am SSSSSSOOOOOO excited about the show jumping.  But i am at work so cannot watch it!  let us know how we do!

  5. As I understand it from reading the news reports this morning, there were four riders who have been suspended after their horses tested positive for a banned painkiller. Unfortunately, one of them was from Norway, the country which earned the bronze in the team jumping the other night- and there is a strong possibility that the team will lose its medal as a result. The FEI ( which is the governing body of all horse sports in the world) is currently testing a second sample from the horse which tested positive- and if he does so again, that will be it for the Norwegian team. They will be stripped of their medal and the riders will be sent home, with the horses to follow as soon as quarantine restrictions allow. Meanwhile, the rider from that team has been suspended and will not be allowed to compete tonight.

Horse sports aren't just regulated by the IOC- the FEI is also involved in the testing and regulation, not to mention supervision, of all the horses in Hong Kong. The other riders who have been suspended are from Brazil, Germany, and Ireland, which has once again lost its most promising rider to a doping scandal. That's the second time doping has cost that country a medal in this event- the same thing happened in 2004 with Cian O'Connor and his horse Waterford B. If there is a third occurance of this, then the FEI will have the option of prohibiting Ireland from competing again in any horse event in the future. The German rider was not entered in tonight's final to begin with, but that doesn't mean he won't face penalties and sanctions, including fines and suspension of his privileges. The Brazilian rider was entered- but he will not be permitted to compete.

My understanding as well is that there are at the most only one or two riders from GB competing tonight, and they are NOT the Whitaker brothers, unfortunately. The Whitakers' horses were eliminated early on with injuries, and the only rider I know for sure who is in the final tonight is Nick Skelton.

I hope that helps you out- and you are correct in saying that England is a common nickname for Great Britain, and it is used in much of the rest of the world. The same thing is true for the Netherlands, which are also commonly called Holland by many people. Calling them that doesn't mean the person doing the speaking is ignorant or stupid, as some on here have implied. After all, what the people of the Netherlands speak is Dutch, not Netherlandese. Likewise, English is the main language in most of the UK, and in the US, Canada, Australia, and NZ. Wales has its own language, called Welch, not Waleses, and so does Ireland- namely, Gailic. I don't know where some of these people are getting the idea you are ignorant- plainly that isn't true.
