when building a line of bounces how many human strides goes between each fence?

how many human strides is one full horses stride?

  1. in theory, u walk the strides between each fence. If the jumps are approx 70cm then if you stand with your back next to the jump and walk 2 middle lengthed strides then this is where the horse should land (depending on scope, ability and experience aswel as stride length). If you then walk 4 strides then this is one canter stride, and another 2 strides is where the next fence should be. so in theory for a bounce fence ther should b 8 strides between both fences. If you know your horse has a long stride then make it slightly longer and shorter if the horse has a short choppy stride. if you want the jumps wider than a bounce fence, you count 4 of your strides for every canter stride that you want and add 4 strides (2 for landing/2 for takeoff). So for a 3 strided double you would want 16 of your strides.

  2. When doing a bounce, the horse doesn't even have time to take on stride between the fences. Since one horse stride is 4 human strides, I'd say that you should put about 3 human strides between each fence.

  3. yep take him over trot poles and just keep doing it again and again until u get the strides rite
