  1. for jumping?

they should enter you in the rink by yourself, and then you just start. once youre finished you go the gate you got entered in.

(if thats what you meant xD)

    good luck (:

  2. Before you do a pattern you are in a line up and you are to be alert, have your horse squared up at all times.  Keep your eye on the judge so you know when it is your turn to do the pattern that he (judge) asks of you.

After you & your horse complete the pattern, you go back to your spot in the line up where you started.  When you go to turn your horse, always turn the horse away from you.

  3. dont know try again

  4. Here's my friend's answer....she is well-versed in halter & showmanship classes, has done them for many years, and won many championships:

Depends on the circuit. The big QH and Appy circuits have you come to the ingate, set up and wait for the judge to motion you in. You then either leave or the pattern will tell you to line up somewhere. Other shows you can ask the gate keeper where you line up, or if you do. Anyways.... If there is a line up you show your horse just as if the judge was walking around your horses, so if he is in front of you on your horse's right side you are on the left, if he is on the left you are on the right. If he is behind the line up, if he is on the right, you are on the right, if he is on the left, you are on the left. Never stop showing until you are dismissed!

  5. Are you referring to breed shows or 4-H shows?  If 4-H, there is ample written material available, plus your leader will also help you in your preparation...if  a breed show, sometimes, (most times) there will be a showmanship pattern posted, so you are showing the minute that you enter the ring...sometimes they want you to enter at a walk, sometimes a trot, sometimes they want all exhibitors in the ring with their horses set up before the judge even enters the ring, and you will show directly to the judge...and pay attention...sometimes a judge can be very subtle when pulling someone out of the line, if you don't catch it, he will go to the next one...the responsibility to know what is going on at all times rests on you.  When making your entries, ask the office help if there is a showmanship pattern posted yet and if there is going to be.  Be prepared.  Depending on your age group, you may want to watch the classes prior to yours, to better prepare yourself...get to know what the judge likes...google the judge before the show...yes, google the judge or talk to someone who had shown to him/her...you cannot be TOO PREPARED!  To specifically answer your question, there may not be a time when you are NOT showing to the judge....Usually, even if there is a pattern posted, when you have finished that pattern, you turn your head and look at the judge to be dismissed.  It's a courtesty thing, plus, he/she may want to ask you to do something else.

  6. You do the pattern then set up your horse. That's called inspection, which is where you get your horse square then the judge will walk around your horse and you cross over when the judge passes the shoulder and butt. Then when your done, they will excuse you and you look back over the shoulder that your horse is by then the other one! I hope this answers your question. It was kind of hard to understand.
