Question:

Shrinking Shorts!!! (On Purpose)?

I have a pair of shorts that are a size 10, but they're getting a little baggy on me now, I'd like to shrink them down maybe a little.

They're denim and 98% cotton and 2% elastane

As they are cotton and elastane, do you think that just by washing them normally it will shrink them a little? (as I've heard denim stretches anyway after a few wears...?)

If not, please give me some tips :)

(My washing machine is a little broke, do you think that If I kept them in boiling water from my kettle it would shrink them?)

  1. Take it do a laundry mat if your machine doesn't work. Dry it for a long time after washing it and this should help. Not much but every little bit counts.

  2. its not the washing that shrinks them.

    its the DRYER! :]

  3. The best you can do is wash them in hot water and then dry them in the drier.  If they are older jeans that spandex (the elastane) has most likely stretched and this keeps them from really shrinking.  However hot water and drying them on hot should shrink them about as small as they will go.  Good luck.

  4. yes.

  5. Well DRYING is what shrinks clothing not washing but I don't see why you couldn't shrink them if you DRY them.

  6. Don't let it air dry.

Just wash it normally, but put your dryer on the highest/hottest setting. It should shrink.

  7. Wash in very hot water and dry in hot dryer this will shrink your shorts to one size Good Luck !
