Shropshirelass oozing with chances of victory in the Follow Totepool On Facebook And Twitter Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle at Plumpton
Plumpton is to become home for the Class 5 Follow Totepool On Facebook And Twitter Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle over two miles and five furlongs on Sunday, 8th April. The £1, 916 purse race has attracted a lineup that comprises of six
runners.
Two from among the lineup have raced their last three attempts at Plumpton. The most accomplished candidate on the lineup is Shropshirelass, Beat All’s nine-year old bay mare out mare Emma-Lyne. She will come out of three final races of the previous season
that were held at Plumpton. She could not post any victory through them but did maintain a third position in two and then ended fifth in the final one.
She finished third in the Drive In Movie On 6th August Handicap Hurdle on 11th April 2011 at Plumpton over two miles and five furlongs. The race was won by the 9/5 favourite of the race, Top Smart, who was being closely chased by Knocklayde
Vic.
Not getting driven down the third position and not even raising the bar up, Shropshirelass finished third once more. On 25th April 2011, in the Totequadpot Handicap Hurdle over two miles and five furlongs, she took up the third slot behind the
winner, Prince Pippin, and the 13/8 favourite runner up, De Welsh Wizzard.
Her final attempt of the season was in the Ann Stone Mother In Law Handicap Hurdle on 8th May 2011 at Plumpton over three miles and half a furlong. The title was taken away by the 11/4 favourite of the race, Patrixbourne, and settling right next
was Hereditary.
Shropshirelass ended the race fifth on the lineup of eight contestants.
Not having won at the race course is a different thing but the experience and exposure coupled with a break of nearly ten months goes in her favour and it might just turn out that she ends up bagging her seasonal debut today.
A potential threat on the lineup for Shropshirelass is It Wasn’t Us, Astarabad’s five-year-old grey mare out of mare Agladora. All the three races that she was a part of during the new season were staged at Plumpton but none translated into a victory. She
was positioned tenth, seventh and then fifth which does show a steady progress along with on hand racing experience.
