Shud i get 1080i? ps3

Question

well i got a ps3, my mom was going to buy a 1080i set..my question is, in the long run, is the cheaper 1080i a good choice with my ps3? do games look good on 1080i? btw its a 4o sumthin inch i dunno..am i ok with the 1080i? this is our first hdtv, is it a good coice..Sorry for the rough typing or question..I'm sleepy..tnx

Go with a 1080p.  With today's technology BluRay utilizes 1080p to give you the best picture.  My sister in law had 1080i and just didn't produce the picture with BluRay.

Right now there are some 1080p PS3 games out there and 1080i wouldn't give you the quality you want.  You'll thank me in about a year's time when BluRay is number one over HD DVD.

1080i is cheaper for a reason. With interlaced scanning you get a new frame only 1/30th of a second because it takes 2 scans to create a frame. With 1080p you get a new frame every 1/60th of a second so your display is twice as fast. This is a decided advantage when playing games. I know many gamers will trade resolution for display rate by going with 720p rather than 1080i. For a new TV go with 1080p. Buying something that is out of date as soon as you open the box does not make much sense.

1080i is only useful if you are buying a large screen TV.

do some reasearch, you are really going to be feeling the difference if you get like 52" or more.
