Does the Fuji Finepix 10.0MP Digital Camera (S1000FD) have good shutter speed? I know the shutter speed is 8 - 1/2000 Seconds but is that a quick speed? Im looking for a camera that will take the actual picture right after the button is pressed and not a few seconds later, and also one that can take pictures repeatedly, without a little time inbetween. Will this camera work for what I want?

  1. Shutter speeds are how long the shutter stays open during the exposure.

What you want it a camera that has very little shutter lag ... at present only DSLR's have shutter lag measured in milliseconds .. not seconds like most P&S cameras.

  2. Go to http://www.stevesdigicams.com  and compare the shutter lag for different cameras -  It is usually discussed in the "Steve's Conclusion" section. Also look for his discussion of how many pictures you can take before the memory buffer fills up while the camera is writing to the memory card.   Shutter Speed,  Shutter Lag (the time between when you push the button and the pictures is taken) and the size of the memory buffer are three different concepts.

  3. You really need a good DSLR for the minimum shutter lag and frame per second rates you wish for.

Most point and shoot cams have pretty long shutter lag.
